Looking at that screen closely, it doesnt really look like cutscene quality...Im kinda thinking thats gameplay footage at this point. The taillights are not as defined as one would expect from a Xbox cutscene, also the trees have a...flat look to them. Hmmmmmm.

comparing a system thats not out yet, to a system whose full capabilities arent fully utilized isnt a fair comparison.

its like comparing a stock v8 to a v6 that has basica bolt ons, yes the v8 is fast, but the v6 can be equally fast when fully modded (dont bitch about engine sizes and HP nmumbers, ive seen some pretty shitty v8s :p)



i dont feel we need any more consoles now, i still say develop for whats out there

The trees still look a little flat, as noted above. I'd like to mention the black border that runs along the roof and the wiper though. If they've got so much horsepower on the GFX chip to "waste" polygons on such details, I guess we're going to see some significantly better graphics. And if it's only 100% round surfaces, that would be a major leap already imo ;) I'd like to see some human models though, vehicles are among the easiest objects to realize convincingly in 3D.

The shadow effect from the tree is the icing on the cake...how it perfectly reflects onto the car.... :-P delicious eye candy

I think that it looks nicer, but I don't see the need for a switch yet. Even if that is a gameplay pic, unless there is something that the Xbox 2 does that my Xbox couldn't handle, I won't really be impressed.

Does it look better than RalliSport 2? Yes. Does it look like it will play any different than RalliSport 2? From the picture, I'd say no...

Of course, I will happily reserve actual judgement until release.

I care about both, because they re-enforce each other. :)

The pic: if I learned one thing, then it is not even to look at hyped mouthwatering pics of next-gen consoles. Only graphics are chosen which show them in the best light, and no pic of the hot and astonishing upcoming SNES, N64 and PS1 did the actual graphics of those consoles justice -- all the consoles underperformed.

Improvement in hardware also means more cpu for things like AI, automated NPC routines, better physics, etc.

First thing I thought when I saw that pic was that it was a dream image. Like someone imagining a car tearing around a turn in a forest. I have nothing on which to base this, just my first impression on seeing it. If that's the case then it looks pretty damn good ;)

and you're exactly correct...as Richter posted, these are 'conceptual images', which I take as they don't exist yet, but this is what IN GAME graphics will look like. I have a hard time believing them tho, as i've yet to see even any PC games look that good.

on a side note, racing games and sports games *to me* are more fun with top of the line graphics, though I really don't play either of those genres so take that into consideration. come to think of it, I haven't played any sports titles on either ps2 or xbox...i guess i need to.

I voted Yes in the case its indeed a picture of actual gameplay though I have some doubt.
