One of my most favoured resources .. and it has vanished! :(

Don't tell me it's gone for good. All that effort and all that information can't be allowed to just vanish!!

In other news .. does anyone know where I can find a front and back scan of the Rockman Megaworld cart?

Crap! I was just there a few days ago and it was still up. No idea what happened. I hope this isn't permanent. I love that site. :(

I noticed that a couple of days ago aswell. The front page has been buggy for a while, but it's all down now :(
Perhaps a little optimistic to hope it's down for an overhaul & solid update? :/

I've got the GCOffline (the whole GC database in a 24meg Windows Help file) which was previously there to download - if anyone wants a copy I could probably send you it.
(unfortunately it's only got screenshots and not the scans, so I van't help you out there, Joel)

Isn't the guy who runs it a member here? I am sure he is, but I can't remember his handle ...

I contacted "snorter" a few weeks back about hosting Genesis Collective (we've worked together in the past and DP is the host of his offline package) but no reply.

The good news is that I have pretty much the entire contents of his site stored here locally, so all he has to do is say the word and I can flip it on. Also, I have the GC Offline files here (usually obtained thru a link on his site) upon request.

Oh dear :/

That don't sound too good .. I hope he is OK. Does anyone here know him 'in the real world' as it were? I guess it's maybe a bit rash to assume that he hasn't just got bored with the whole thing and moved on, but it does seem unlikely.

I remember him saying someone hacked into the site awhile ago. He just had a kid awhile ago too, so he most likely wont be back for a bit yet.

It is sad, I loved that site. I remember how happy I was to see such a giant site devoted to Genesis.

Here's Hank's thread from back in June: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36160

Sounds like he may well be busy with more important matters :)
Hopefully something can be sorted out with the site though - a re-vamped GenesisCollective in DP hands could be a beautiful thing!

Hi guys!

I have been using the Genesis Collective website for over a year now and was really disapointed when it was taken offline!

Has anyone got any of the content that can be sent to me (i.e screen shots, summaries of the games and also the box scans?)

Help me please

Thanks

Lea :(

Most of what was on the site was also in the offline guides, except for either the screenshots or the boxart (cant remember which and im regretting not downloading it when i had the chance).
You can still get screenshots from http://vgmuseum.com but theyre only screenshots, none of the other stuff that made the collective cool like the scribes quirky comments or box art :(

welcome to the forum btw

I did hear back from Hank and he's doing fine and very busy with his recently expanded family :)

DP has been hosting the Collective offline for several years. You can grab that here:

It'd be nice to have it online again. There aren't enough Genesis sites around and I found it to be a great resource for release dates and developer info.

All of that stuff has been migrated to the DP database, so it's not lost!

We may be hosting the FULL collective someday, it's really up to Hank.

Hey

I clicked on the link and it came up with a search engine! What am i suppose to do from here? I am really after the box scans that Collective Genesis had is there any chance of getting them in a file like the Genesis Collective offline?

I downloaded that before and it is great thanks for all your help!

Cheers

Genesis Collective got hacked using a SQL injection vulnerability in PHP Nuke. Thats what I get for not writing all the code myself, I guess.

The site has been hacked for a few months, but still working. It just recently refused to load. While I'm off over Christmas, I hope to have time to troubleshoot (and BOY, would I like to shoot the trouble that did this!).

The new little Snorter has kept me busy the last few months. With three little Snorters at home, as well as Mrs. Snorter, troubleshooting time may be limited. I also have a 32x update I wanted to do before the &*(^%#$@ hacked the site...

Hey there Mr. Snorter, how's 2.0 doing? :) Sucks that happened; hope it's not too much trouble to get it back online.

At the ZIP archive - 22.1MB? I want the info but I feel guilty downloading all that at once O_O

Thanks, Joe!

Well, I am glad to hear that it is technical matters and family prioritisaztion that is behind this, rather than some nasty disaster of some sort. Congrats on the new Snorter!!!

3 kids at home? I am amazed and - highly impressed - that you got it all up at all!!

Congrats again, and hope to see the site up and running again sometime, but first things first. Have a good Christmas!

Gah! I've just been trying to send it without much luck - I haven't got the original .zip file any more, and when I tried sending the individual files, Yahoo Mail just bounced them back to me and Gmail doesn't allow attachments composed of executable files.
Sorry man, looks like I can't help after all :/

Has anyone else still got the zip file with everything in?

How about compressing all the files to a few zip files of 1.44 MB each? It´d send much faster.

Here is the entire Genesis Collective Offline guide 1.5 that was available previously. It totals about 22mb as a single RAR file. I was gonna split this up into multiple 1.44 sized files, but...well..I didn't. Anyway, I won't leave it here for long. I will likely delete this shortly after T-Giving Holiday...so grab it while you can.

Removed the link as Supafly has it hosted now in smaller chunks. See his message a few posts down...

Only suggestion I have is that you rename those files to something more logical for those downloading instead of the defaults of part1...part2...etc.

And as I stated, I could have split this up easily, but honestly was lazy and didn't want to post 10 different links and upload 10 different files...hehe..

This version is still missing box art in most cases, and doesn't have as up to date Cheat codes for Game Genie and Action Replay carts as the site itself does. I really wish those items had been updated before the site went stagnant. Oh well...

That signifies that these are seperate parts of a single RAR archive. You can't just rename them at a whim.

Yeah...I couldve renamed them with a more logical name like genesiscollective.r01, r02, r03 but that webhosting belongs to a friend. So I didnt want to make him mad when many people found the files in google.com and downladed them, using his bandwidth

This is kind of a just-for-DP-users` hosting :D
