View Full Version : So I Was Thinking of Renting a Gamecube...

It occurs to me that for the first time in several years I am in a position to engage in the charming holiday ritual that is Nintendo Console Rental. Sadly, there's no one around to play with me this time, but that's okay.
Truth be told, I have had little exposure to the Gamecube. I've mashed buttons on Super Smash Bros. Melee displays before, but didn't get much out of it.
So, what are good games that can be enjoyed by one person and which can be finished in a weekend without any lingering doubts? Viewtiful Joe 2 is an obvious choice, I think. No doubt either Metroid Prime would be very enjoyable, but I don't think I'd be able to finish it. Other suggestions?
I would play Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Viewtiful Joe, Smash Bros., Wario World, Animal Crossing.
You could probably finish PoP, V Joe, Smash, and Wario in two days if you had nothing to do.
Edit -- I forgot about Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, I would get a Cube just for that...but that's me :)

you may as well just buy the system and use the rental fees towards the cost of the system...there is that platinum pack with 2 controllers, the system, hookups, and mario kart for $100
if you didnt want the game or the extra controller you could probably sell those on ebay and get the system very very cheap...and then you would own it
pre-owned games with the eb gamers edge card can be very reasonably priced also, and you could use the game rental fees towards the cost of buying the preowned games

Well, I don't particularly want to buy one; I have too many things already. And methinks "It offers a good weekend's worth of playability" is not typically a high criteria for someone's choice of game, but that's what I'm looking for here.
Prince of Persia, at least, I could buy for the PC fairly easily. (I should do that sometime.) But I hadn't thought of Wario World. That's a pretty good idea. Come to think of it, Luigi's Mansion isn't very long either, is it?
How long is Eternal Darkness?

Animal crossing will turn you into a believer... Btw, Wind waker is fairly (read: depressingly) short. Rent that.
