Hello gang - I was thinking of getting a Turbo Express... so I was doing some research. I came across a site saying that essentially, since the T.E. did not have really good power circuitry, you could not use rechageable batteries in it. Does anyone here know if that is true?
If it is, that could be a real deal breaker for me.

Given my firsthand luck with rechargables, i'd hesitate to put them in anything as rare as a TE. then again, it's a cold day in hell that i put batteries in any portable.

I've used modern rechargeables without a problem...
Specifically, "Pure Energy" alkaline rechargeables.

define modern, i had rayovac renewals 3 years ago and the damn things leaked in the charger. and yes i can read polarity.

Funny you posted this. I just played my Turbo Express for the first time in a while yesterday and I used rechargable batteries to power it up. The TE was acting strange after that...the sound was very weak and games didn't even come on half the time (just got this reddish-orange screen).
I got really worried thinking my TE was busted. Maybe it is just the batteries though. I'll have to fire it up with some non-rechargables and see what happens....

LOL modern = not 1980's NiCads I guess...
I wasn't saying that I have no problems with rechargeables "period"...I was only referring to their use with the TE.
However I do not use it often enough with the batteries to really say for certain that they couldn't damage it. I've used the TE mostly with the wall or cigarette lighter adapter.
