LOL
I'm sure you think I'm kidding but I'm really not. I'm doing a review on the NES version of the game and would love to hear some opinions about it. Break the game out again, try a few out, let me know if ANY of them salvaged ANY moments of your gaming time. Or if you happen to remember that "Cheetahmen" was the one you actually played all the way through on, tell me about it!
PS I KNOW Action 52 it sucks, so save your +1's for some other thread.

I have the Genesis version of Action 52...
From what I've seen both carts are virtually identical. I never actually compared the numbers to see if they're totally in sync but based on the fact that the graphics are almost identical and I know a few games that I've played on both, the Genesis is probably just a port of the NES version.

For some reason, I always liked Space Dreams. Kind of reminds me of a Twinbee game, only not very good.

Not to hijack, but is the NES version the same as the Genny version gamewise?
If so...there was one of the driving games I've played an embarassing amount of. I can't remember the name, but the cars look like cardborad cutouts of cars and I think that's my fascination with the game.

Hrm I can get the genny version of this game from a local store for like 30 bucks with the box. I Wonder if its worth it.

No, they are not the same at all. Some of the games have the same title, but the games are totally different (take Cheetamen for example).
Out of the titles that I played, I enjoyed the Cheetamen the best. This game was actually pretty fun, in my opinion. Maybe my ideas of fun has just decreased over the years :D
Also Action 52 (Genny) has an option at the end where you can play all the games, and also a version of Pong. These are not in the NES version of the game. Some of the game titles are the same, but the games are not. Just thought I would throw this out there, from one of the dudes who actually created a webpage about the Cheetamen series.

Thanks for the info, TRM! I may need to play a little more of the Genesis version too so I can do a more complete NES review.

Or Even better,
Maybe you could do 2 reviews, one for each!
Or just one big comparison review.
Just suggestions

Alfredo, Cheetamen, and the one with the elf looking guy with big feet that stomps on enemies.
Action 52 is great! So many shumps on the NES version.

Is this question even answerable ??? LOL
My favorite is the one with the Ooze, I forget what its called, but you are a kid who is jumping on blocks and the enemies are big blobs of ooze.

My favorite Action 52 game is the "Power Off Button." Man, that's just such a great game where that realistic-looking hand reaches to an NES and all you see is a black screen until...
Okay, okay, I'm just a jerk, I know. LOL
In all seriousness, though... I should probably get the actual cart, because the rom I have... well, when I try to play a game, I just see a black screen after I choose "One Player." Guh. x_x

Billy Bob. Besides the game being a poor Prince of Persia clone, I remember that if you messed around with the toaster NES's version of "frying" (pushing the cart up and down with the power on, etc.) you could get the game to load with semi-cool randomized levels.

My "favorite" game was the vertical shmup that starts you off right in front of a big rock-like formation. If you don't know to hold right or left right off the bat, you die instantly. Obviously, this happens to everyone (repeatedly) the first time they try it. I found this to be so amusing that I was actually laughing out loud when I realized what was happening. I can't remember the name of this game, but you'll know it when you see it.

Talk about coincidence, i won an auction for a cart+manual action52 on monday for $3.50 on ebay Au, even though i already have a bootleg copy of it :/
My genuine favourite game on the cart would have to be pong (i think its called "first game" on the gen version), but apart from that they are all utter garbage.
Side note: Is it so hard to program a consistent hud/life count and score thingy? None of the games have one (does anyone even know what im talking about?) and its kinda wierd.

They (someone) actually made bootlegs of this cart? That's quite amusing.
