Greetings Programs.

Ok, so back at the classic gaming expo while getting a Yori autograph from Cindy Morgan, I whine about not being able to play Tron 2.0 on my system. She tells me to skip it and get an xbox and wait till Tron 2.0 Killer App comes out for it and it will blow me away. So I bought an xbox and williams arcade treasures to keep my self busy for a few months.

Quick background info. In 1982 I was in Control Data Institute, learning how to fix mainframe computers. Half a block away was an arcade. I skipped lunch most days to play tron. Read the book first. Then saw the movie 3 times. Then bought everything tron I could find. Including the VHS when it first came out. And when I got the 20th anniversary DVD I watched it a dozen times.

Ok, so a few weeks ago it's time and I get the new Tron. And am totally obsessed with this game. The main annoyances to the new generation of gamers, to me seem normal. The graphics get medium reviews? I'm wandering around sometimes when not getting hounded by ICP's just looking around.

I'm wondering if this obssession will carry me through the whole game? I'm starting to backtrack to make sure I picked up all the emails so I don't miss any of that soap opera plot :)

end of line

Cool to see that you're enjoying it! I still haven't played it, but I really should pick it up for the Mac.

I didn't even realize that was released already. I'm hot to play it. Thanks.

I bought Tron 2.0 for the PC several months ago and it really is a fun game. If you're a big Tron fan, make sure to get Tron 2.0 for the GBA. It has Tron and Discs of Tron in there as bonuses, and is a whole new game where you can play either Tron or Mercury.

Yes

2 weeks of staying up past midnight in the digital world is taking it's toll. Whatever expo that was back in march.

I heard Cindy Morgan lives not too far from me anyway. I wonder if thats true.

I need to track down a cheap copy of this on the PC... been putting that off for far to long now.

Are there any extras on the xbox version as opposed to the PC?

I think all the xbox extras are related to multiplayer modes. It uses the new 16 player version of xbox live.

The main game path was also changed as not to rely on as many jumping puzzles. Seems this was a big complaint in the PC version.

Shit I'm horrible at jumping puzzles! Maybe I'll have to cave and play the XBOX version instead.

So far the hardest archive bins to get to have contained only emails and subroutines. The critical permissions were always in a core dump.

Ya know, the whole language in the program is really starting to get to me. I have been referring to my son's as version 2 and version 3 and version 3.5 since I have started playing the game.

Jumping puzzles? Hmm, I haven't really encountered anything jump-puzzle-like in the PC version (I recently got past the level where you had go from recognizer to recognizer to sneak into the system after the system purge). Sure there are areas that require jumping, but nothing on the level of say Dark Forces/Jedi Knight/Jedi Outcast..

I've seen the PC version go for $15 at Circuit City (which is where I got mine).

The biggest jumping puzzle in the game comes right after you overclock the old mainframe and have to push some circuits to keep it from blowing up. Lots of little platforms.

I believe the major difference in the Xbox is that you can play the light cycles over Xbox live. The light cycles are really, really sweet. I haven't played the Xbox version, but I have gone almost all the way through the PC light cycle circuits, and they are FUN.

I'm sure the Xbox version was cool, but 1024x768 was just way too awesome...I just played through this game again a few weeks ago on Insane mode. VERY challenging (2-3 hits from anything and you're dead) and I had to reload a lot, but I got a lot better at the upgrades. The sucky thing is that you don't get Megahurtz + Prankster Bit early enough to get both of them to GOLD level. That would rule.

Prankster Bit doesn't do anything against big bad bosses, anyways. I actually used Cluster + the green virus decay mod for the last boss.

Light cycles on Live is what I want that game for. Everything else is just a bonus.

The CC near me doesn't carry PC software at all. After Christmas I'll just pick this up online.
