Galaxian in USA version, obviously unreleased.
It's the first proto that I've bought, for a lot of USD btw, and now I've understood that since I can't dump it (soldered EPROMs), it's better if i sell it. I've bought if from a very well known proto collector and DP member.
It should be exactly the one described on DP guide (check the online rarity guide for the correct description) and I don't know about other copies.
I am interested in money or trades.
My ebay nick is "parafang". I live in Italy. You can PM me offers and if you want pics, just give me your email, anyway if you want a description you can check the online rarity guide :)
Thanks!

Nicola

If you're that interested in having it dumped, i'm willing to wager one of this board's soldering iron maniacs would be willing to assist in that, to prevent the loss of the ROM...

Have you noticed any difference in the game between this version and the J version? The J version seems to be all in english.

I'm just wondering if the authenticity of this cart was ever confirmed in the first place.

The reason I say this, is because in the rarity guide, it says:

Based on the 1979 Namco coin-op. Found during the last days of SunSoft's existence in the USA, this game is 100% identical to the Japanese release, and even says “NAMCOT Galaxian” on the white label, and even contains EPROMS! Was this to be released by Namco in the USA? And why was it found at SunSoft of all places? Hmm.

Just wondering if this is nothing more than a reproductions created by a galaxian game lover over at sunsoft. (with access to the right hardware, all is possible)

I can assure you 100% that this game was possibly going to be picked up by Sunsoft back in the early days of the company. The labeling is consistent to the other Sunsoft labeling and protos of the time over there. It would not make sense for a "fan" working there to make that game back in the day. They did have Famicoms and converters, but this game was truly thought of as a bonafide release. I obtained the Sunsoft closing out lot (much like Acclaim had an auction, I obtained the remnants of whatever Sunsoft had when they close their US offices in Costa Mesa, CA) So I can verify its' authenticity 100%. I have seen more prototypes (cart and disk related) than the majority of people on this board, so I would hope my word means something to Nicola's sale.

Hey Nicola, is parafang a monster name from a RPG? I keep thinking I know it but don't want to ruin it by doing a search.

No, it's not vg related: in italian parafango=mudguard. It's a long story to tell...

Not to be rude but I think you might have a hard time getting 250 for that game. I would think about 125 - 150 would be a price that would sell that cart for you. Too bad you paid "Much More" as the loss I can understand would far to great to sell at such a price. Best of luck with your sale. :)

Has anyone else noticed how the prices of protos has collapsed in the last year??

Before you start blaming people like me, I'd like to point out that the prices drop has started long before I sold my first reproductions.

As far as this proto goes, put it up on eBay. Lots more exposure there. What's the worst that can happen, it getting yanked? Search for how others have been posted and duplicate it. (Like this you'll go under the ebay-nazi radar).

Is the Galaxian Proto just like the released version in japan or have the title screen been modified for an us Release.

Well, I've never seen it in japanese version...but there is something strange:
when you move the ship, all the lower enemy ships move with you, while the upper ones move left-right together with the score, lives...
