Don't know when they started doing this, but you can get an RE4 demo disc when you put down a $5 deposit at EBgames. I have no idea if the same deal applies at any other stores though.
I've played a Japanese demo and trust me, this game is the shiznit. :D

As much as I am a fan of Resident Evil..I have too many questions about the characters who have been missing over the years.
I'm sure RE4 will be the shiznit...Ada and Leon together again..which I can't wait to see how she survived part 2....yet since RE4 takes place 7 years after RE2....there is so much unanswered...in RE3 we got a good idea from the "Epilogues" did fill in some blanks...but left me wanting to know more
I wanna know what happened to these survivors of the RE series...
Barry Burton (RE1 and a cameo in RE3)
Carlos (From RE3)
Jill Valentine (RE1 and 3)
Sherry Burkins (RE2 and mentioned once in RE3)
Rebecca Chambers (RE1 and 0)
Chris Redfield (Hidden in RE2 Battle Mode and playable in Code Veronica)
Claire Redfield (RE2 and Code Veronica)
Hunk (Aka Mr. Death) (Playable in RE2 as a hidden character and Mentioned in Code Veronica and RE3)
Albert Wesker (I hope to see him in RE4)
I will say, the Resident Evil series has to have one of the best connecting storylines of a game series

er... you'll get the demo when you preorder the game; the fiver holds your copy of the final version when it ships and is non-refundable. but (and i have to ask)...why would you want just the demo and not the whole game :hmm: ?

Maybe he is trying to collect all the Gamecube bonus discs? I am, so that's why I jumped on this one. :)
After playing the demo however, I can't imagine NOT wanting to buy this game. It's going to be incredible!

I still don't understand WHY they only give you a demo of a game after you preorder it...I thought demo's were made to get people interested in a game, seems as if you preorder it you are already made the decision that you want to purchase it. x_x

well, you DO want to make sure you're not going to change your mind at some point, right ;) ? also, as you stated, a demo is great if you have friends who may not be interested in a particular game until they see it in action. ok, so you didn't say THAT, but i'm logically extending your statement to the next level (ooh- i got a 1up!)
anyway, watching some dopey TV host scream about how cool a game is or seeing a screenshot in a magazine is one thing, but playing for yourself (and others) what that fifty clams is going to get you is priceless (well, five dollars down, first), and will get the skeptics excited enough to run out and get their own copy...

Simple, I want both. I am collecting all of the GC demo discs and right now the RE4's are going for $15-30 on eBay (NO THANKS!) and I want the game but I can certainly wait for it to reach $25 or less. So finacially I would SAVE money buy "buying" a demo at eb for $5 and then getting the game used later on! :D

I've got it. Not exactly a fan of RE, but 4 seems decent enough.
I did find out the hard way that even the TREES were booby trapped. Seeing something hanging on them, I thought it was a lantern or something.
"Hey, what's that? Is it a lantern or..."
"BWWWOOOMMM!!!!"
Needless to say, I learned to use the binoculars to check things out from a distance from that point on.

What the hell is with the camera angle? It is off to the side instead of behind Leon. Capcom is like a retarded monkey :monkey: when it comes to camera angles. I'll get used to it I guess.

There's a coupon in the January edition of GMR that get's you a $10.00 mail in voucher when you pre-order at EB. Between that and a free demo, sounds like a good deal. I haven't seen the demo, but I've watched a few clips of the game. I thought RE games were known for having your character's mobility suffer from any damage you took? I'm remembering correctly aren't I? 'Cause in the clips I've seen of RE4, the guy was practically beheaded with a scythe several times and he was running around like he had MJOLNIR armor under his jacket! What's up with that?
Don't matter, I've always loved RE games, whether I remember them correctly or not. I collect them for every system I have and I wouldn't miss this one for the world.

I don't get the point of giving away a Demo of the game when you pre-order it. I want to try it BEFORE I commit to buying the game. Is there anywhere I can try this game out without having to buy the game?

Does anybody know if this is the same demo that came with Famitsu?

I believe it's the same demo that's on the most recent U.S. GameCube interactive disc.
Also, I've heard(at Gamestop) that the disc was to be given out with Cube purchases? Don't know if that's mis-information, but it seems that many Gamestops are giving with preorder instead (which makes more sense).

It is, just as QoF pointed out, but nothing has been toned down or cut from it.

The official release from Capcom was that it was to be given out with GC purchases, but most are smartly giving it as a preorder bonus. I don't understand most peoples' issue with preordering games. The reality is that it is only a deposit, and you CAN change your mind. Wouldn't most of you plunk down the $50 if the game you wanted was in anyway? This is a topic for another thread, I apologize.
As for the demo, it has nice previews of all the games in the series for GC in addition to the aforementioned kiosk demo. I am a skeptic in general when it comes to games that generate industry "buzz" (still feeling the burn from Halo 2, which has been somewhat of a coaster for me), but RE4 looks like it is going to deliver. For one, Capcom has finally gotten with the times and deep sixed the outmoded control scheme from the previous games. Also, despite what others may have said, the new camera angle is very "cinematic" and adds to the overall feeling of fear and suspense. The targeting mechanic is very functional with the new angle. It also can't hurt that the game is gorgeous.

Actually it looks like some stuff has been changed just a bit...the inventory process is different, and, most obviously, they added a guy being burned at the stake when you first enter the village. :eek 2:

Just picked myself up a copy. WOW I like it, ALOT more action oriented than the first 5 (10 (I think) If you count spinoffs and remakes and gameboy games and such). You can actually aim at specific body points, not just up, straight, and down. Nothing like shooting crazy villagers in the head.

Are these in gamecube cases or just little paper ones? If they are in gamecube cases and you can nab the demos for pretty cheap I may be interested in buying / trading for one.

Mike, I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. It's not really a demo though, all it does is play a RE0 trailer. I actually saw a copy at a KB before it closed down, but I neglected to get one.
As for dealing with that lady, just try going in when she's not working. Chances are SOMEONE working there knows something about games.
If you do happen to get a bunch of 'em, sign me up for one. My trade list is in my sig. :D
