Snowboarding level? You must be a lot further along than I. I have a hard enough time just dodging those grenades tossed out of the car I'm chasing.

Oh, wait. Sorry. Wrong Cliff Hanger.

It can't be as godawful as the NES version. I mean, even if the gameplay was as bad or slightly worse, it would still have to look better. I mean, the NES version is so ass ugly I can't even fathom why I bought a complete copy.

its not that its that bad, its just the whole second level of the game is really friggin hard!

I could never beat the damn snowboard level. I think my dad managed to do it once, though.

When I saw the topic, I knew it was about the Sega CD Cliffhanger right off the bat ;)

Wow, someone playing Cliffhanger on Sega CD.

ONLY on the Retrogaming Roundtable.

The level is all about memorization. Think back to ye olde days of NES platformers and ye shall rise victorious.

I have played the SNES version but I don't remember Stallion having a go at snowboarding. I take the level was so graphically intensive that it was a SegaCD exclusive? :P

LOL, I thought you guys were talking about the orginal Laser disk arcade game "Cliff Hanger" by Stern. Is there any relation between these two games?

Hahaha, another gamer falls victim to the evil trap that is the Cliffhanger snowboarding level. :P Oh, the extreme joy and pain myself and friends have experienced together thanks to it. Joy from when you finally get a little further (depression when you realize there's more) and pain because... well... you know. It's like those levels in Battletoads except... not fun, fair, or rewarding. :P

I've got a copy of this game...ARG. I'll have to pop it in Gens.

No, none whatsoever.

The laserdisc game is based on the Lupin anime from Japan and features "choose the right path" gameplay akin to Dragon's Lair.

The Sega CD game is based on the Sylvester Stallone movie and is a mishmosh of fighting, climbing and yes, snowboarding levels and features "cut scenes" from the movie.

Oh yeah, that Castle of Cagliostro movie it was based off of...hmm...remember reading about that somewhere or other.

I thought that the Game Boy version was a mess. Blurry screen + narrow platforms to jump on = broken copy of Cliffhanger GB.
