So I got this game today also, brand speanking new -- I did'nt know this was coming out! :) It was a plesent surprise when I was told they came in along with KH:COM when I got to my local EB.

Anyone else get it today and want to share their thoughts? ;)

I have my doubts about this one, to be honest -- I loved Knights of the Old Republic (I played the PC version) but I got worried when I heard another company was making this one.

No real prior knowledge of the first game is needed, just knowing this takes place five years after the events of the first one. I have'nt played this yet, but the box makes it sound very similar in gameplay and design to the first one.

Also, the box claims it has widescreen and Dolby Surrond support, so this should look great on my XBox setup with my new HDTV and the 5.1 speaker system. :D

Let us know how it is! I have the first KOTOR for Mac, but haven't played it yet for hardware-related reasons (I need to wait until I have a Mac with a DVD drive to play it).

I have it also and am really enjoying it so far. I am sure someone will no better than me, but i believe Obsidian is made up of the folks who worked on the fallout series and Planescape Torment. As soon as I heard that my fears were pretty much put to rest.

The games only complaint i have heard/seen is that it runs on basically the same graphics engine as the first.

I put about a hour and a half of game play into this so far.

Yeah, I noticed in the manual that some Bioware people (who made the first game) were thanked in the credits, so it seems like there was some cross over help. I don't know where the people in Obisdion came from, but my fears were put to rest also as I started to play.

I don't mind them using the same graphic engine. Why reinvent something if it's not broken? In fact, I'd say about 75 percent of the game looks and plays like the first one. Now, I also never played the XBox version of KOTOR -- I have it for the PC. However, I found the controls pretty easy to get into. The first mission has no combat and is a easy 'tutorial' prologue to get you into this.

The game starts five years after the events of KOTOR. The Sith have continued to attack the Republic and hunt down the Jedi's, and they are all but extinct. You play a young man or woman (NOT the same person as the first one!) who seems to have had some training in the Force but gave it up, and was a passenger on a Republic ship that was attacked. They escaped on the Ebon Hawk, the same ship you used in the first game, but it was attacked crippled. The opening cutscenes show the crippled ship drifting into a asteroid belt and your charcter is badly wounded. In the first mission, you play a droid -- the same cute little droid from the first game. :D

No real complaints with the game so far -- just afew minor quibbles. I've allready gained my first party member and the story seems to be quite detailed, although right now it's not drawing me in like the first one yet. But it's early in the game still.

If you enjoyed the first one, you'll like this one as well. :)

Someone I know who's involved with KOTOR's marketing is going to get me a copy for the PC when it comes out early next year. I'm going to wait until then.

Bioware was overseeing the project, making sure they dont fudge it up

Yes, early next year. Don't want to get more specific as I don't really want to get my friend in trouble in case she shouldn't have been talking about it.
