View Full Version : Weird-looking Sonic and Knuckles cart...

I found a sonic and knuckles cart (that I didn't buy yet, mind you) at the flea market that had a weird label (not the UK cart either). Strange thing is, it's not a pirate -- it has lock-on. The back of the cart says SEGA, but it is dated completely wrong (1993 as opposed to 1995), and "Genesis" is misspelled. There is also no mention of the battery on the back of the cart. What do you people think?

If the word "Genesis" is misspelled, it's gotta be a pirate. I don't see why it's entirely beyond the realm of possibility for a pirate cartridge to include the lock-on, even if we've never seen it before. It wouldn't be all that hard to pull off.

I've looked at the cart a second time. Genesis is not misspelled -- I had looked at it fairly fast. Scratch that idea. And besides -- why would a pirater take the time to code the lock-on? IT is by far the most complicated part of the cart itself.

I've seen a pirate Famicom cart of Super Mario Bros. 3 where, instead of managing to recreate an MMC3 board, they actually reprogrammed the entire game to work on their own proprietary format. Never underestimate pirates.
So did you get this thing, or what?

Also: on the topic of S&K: Was there a s&K/sonic 3 cart? Or a no-top-connector s&K? a friend claimed he saw em but i am calling BS.

it seems apparent to me everything this guy posts is BS, ive talked to him on AIM before, and some of his claims were outrageous (shining force 3 part 1,2, and 3 for $5 each at a FLEA MARKET!!!, not to mention his ummm what did he say like 17 genesis protos?????)
so dont way too heavy anything he says.... and im wording this nicely.

No, I think that's what the fox stuff is for.
Also: on the topic of S&K: Was there a s&K/sonic 3 cart? Or a no-top-connector s&K? a friend claimed he saw em but i am calling BS.Some Sega-Person talked about something like that in an interview some time before Sonic & Knuckles came out, I never heard of it again after that. I bet there are pirate carts like that out there though
