well...I don't blame him for trying to capitalize on the Christmas silliness on ebay this year, especially with all the grilled cheese sandwiches and ghosts being up for grabs as well.

Yeah, but that game has never sold above $500 on ebay.. so $1000 seems like a stretch. I don't really blame anyone selling (legitimate) items at any price, if you can get it, great, if not, no harm done. But $1000 is just way too rich for anyone's blood unless he finds a newbie who doesn't know any better.

have you seen the rest of his complete nes games? holy hell @_@ No one is going to bid..
He does have DW2 and DW3 sealed for $800 and $700 respectively. And yeah, no one will bite. but no harm done I guess. I wish him good luck although if he's actually trying to sell I think his price point is out of reach.
I remember seeing a DW2 sealed on ebay go for $122.50 once. And while that was a good deal, $800 is way out there..

This auction seems like a better deal to me:

May not be sealed, but I don't buy sealed games. I want to play the games I collect.
Also the shipping on that $999 BIN is rather high at $17.50 in my opinion.

Besides, I really don't think the "christmas silliness" thing holds for sealed stuff. In fact, it seems to work in reverse. Prices DROP during the lead up to christmas from what I've seen the past three christmases.

I thought shipping was based on size and weight not how much you spend on an item. Even with insurance it should not cost that much to ship in my opinion. I doubt anyone will spend $1000 for a single sealed NES game.

well it certainly wouldn't be the first time someone's dropped a grand on a sealed game, although it doesn't happen that often. Definitely won't happen for castlevania though, IMO anyway..

LOL LOL LOL , the seller is out of his freaking mind. A sealed Castlevania is worth no more than $200, and even $200 seems way too high to me. I would say around $75-125 for the average. I have never seen a sealed NES game go for $1,000+ (Stadium Events complete for $1,800, but that doesn't count). Even the sealed Bubble Bobble 2 that was on ebay a while back, went for $650 or so. Well, I have to disagree with you there, the cheapest mint sealed castlevania I can recall seeing on ebay was $313 (a couple of really beat up ones went around $150 including one I sold). It's quite a bit tougher to find than #2 or #3. If you can find them mint for $75-125 I will buy every copy you have.
As for the high dollar sales, they're not on ebay, but they happen sometimes.
(btw, that bubble bobble 2 was 2 full years ago now, at $610, and I can tell you the owner would turn down $1000 for it).

With the laughably weak dollar right now anything priced in USD will be comparatively cheap, so maybe some foreign bidder will bite.
Example: 3 years ago $1000 would have equaled 11000 SEK(Swedish Kronor) Right now it equals 6780 SEK.
Or in Dec 2001 $1 was equal to €1.14. Now $1 equals €0.75
I wish I was still in Europe......

actually that's a good point, euro and canadian buyers have a lot more $ to work with right now. still not going to happen IMO.

Bronty, I think you're right. I must have mistaken sealed Castlevania 2 & 3 , and thought that they were Castlevania.
I guess time sure does fly, cause I thought that sealed Bubble Bobble 2 was only around a year ago.

Going from memory, but I think it was January of 03.. I started collecting sealed games in December 02 so it was a memorable auction for me.

Hmm, I like that auction Number6 posted. I need a copy of Castlevania 2 to round off that side of the collection :)
Unless somebody here was bidding on it? I don't want to compete with any of the forum members.

If he does manage to sell it for a grand don't be surprised if you see another sealed castlevania up for auction. I also have a sealed version, and would sell it in a heartbeat for that price.

I say go for it since I am not interested in NES collecting. I simply did a search on Castlevania 1 to see what else was currently available to get a price comparison. That auction seemed to be the most reasonable to me if I were collecting NES games.
Good luck!

eBay listing fees for items over $500 are $4.80... if those don't sell, Ouch!
