View Full Version : How do you ship Genny games?

I was wondering, how much do you try to portect genesis games when you ship? I'm usually pretty careful with Saturn and Sega CD and DC games, because the cases are more fragile, But in my experience, a Genesis case can stand up to quite a bit. Often I just ship it out without anything else than the buble wrapper envelope.

well i would be pissed if i got anything in a bubble envelope.

i ship them in a small box just like everything else i ship. you run the risk of getting places punctured in the insert if you use a bubble envelope.

if it's not disc based, it's a brick.
I've shipped some of the following items in bubble mailers, which arrived just fine:
Any cart based game you can think of
Intellivision system
N64 system(several)
Genesis model 1
Genesis model 2
Atari 2600(four switcher. if it were a six i wouldve boxed it.)
Game boy advance SP

I have shipped the following items in bubble mailers that were damaged in transit:
Saturn case

The following items were damaged when i shipped in boxes:
Nintendo power mags(fell out in transit :\)
SCSI Hard drives(hard drives are rather twitchy)
Some 5.25 inch floppy disks.

overall i have much better luck with bubble mailers.

Even loose carts? To me, they seem ideal in a bubble mailer (and I have shipped loose carts before that way).

They're a perfect fit in an A5 Jiffy bag, so why use anything else?

I have no problem if someone sent me a loose cart in a bubble mailer. The important thing to remember is that there are different quality bubble mailers out there. Some are as thin as tissue paper and are useless. As long as the seller purchases a quality one any loose game should arrive safely. SMS and Genesis boxed games would probably be fine in a quality bubble mailer as well because the hard plastic cases are pretty durable.

Its the people who put complete NES and Atari games in a bubble mailer that piss me off

bubble mailers are really meant for loose carts or small parts

But never a complete game..that is so wrong...

Now Genesis games, really depends...if it's a hard case...its ok with a bubble wrap...but if paper casing...I would say use a better route to protect those

I recently Ebay'd a Genesis and some games. The Genesis itself was wrapped in bubble wrap, but the games were just thrown in the box. When I opened it, there was some moisture on the games. Not a lot, just some, like it had been sitting outside for a long time(I live in Oregon). I am having problems with sound on some of the games, and the games often have to be adjusted a little when inserted into the system to run.

So.. uhmm.. wrap them carefully :)

I should post this in the repair forum to see if anything can be done.

I once received a $35 GB cartridge in a PAPER ENVELOPE. Yes, the kind your bills come in. It didn't even have security striping inside. I paid $5 for shipping, and it cost a lot less. The seller even told me it costed $2 of that for packaging and $1 for insurance even though there was no stamp on it. $2 for a white paper letter envelope.

I've shipped them before in bubble mailers, and received them as well in fine condition. But I've recently started taking boxes from work and bubble wrapping everything in em, and saving bubble mailers for loose carts.

well i guess i should have been more specific, i dont really ever buy loose carts, pretty much everything i buy or trade for is always complete, so the thought of loose carts in a bubble mailer never really came to mind, but yes if i bought a loose cart it could be shipped in a bubble mailer.

Ha ha ha! I'm often pleased to get single import games in a bubble wrapper.

Genesis, Mega Drive and SMS all use a similar type of clamshell case. Needs a bubble envelope roughly 8 by 11.

The real problems come when people jumble a lot of stuff together in a box and go "OK!!!1"

That basically ruined a MSX 2 I bought a few years ago, and caused some damage to a Tactics Ogre (OB7) SFC game's box as well.

i once got a boxed nes game in a yellow unpadded envelope.... i was pissed but at least it didnt get damaged (thank god). Boxed genesis games i would ship in a bubble mailer. Boxed Nes/Snes/N64/etc. i would ship in a box, wrapped in paper and bubble wrap. Theres nothing more irritating then getting something destroyed in the post because of a lazy and/or cheapass seller x_x

I received a sealed N64 game in a bubble envelope.

Needless to say the box was squished.

Plus I was overcharged on shipping.

Dang lowlife decided to give me a neutral in response to the neutral I gave him.

This was the bullshit email I received from him.

i appreciate your input however this is why i do not normally ship out of the US. i have shipped over 50 other games for snes and n64 and have not had any problems with damage boxes. i suppose the reason it took over 2 weeks to get to you and was damaged at that is because they do not take the same care in the mail as we do here. as far as the extra fees are concerned it costs more to ship also i had to fill out custom forms and if i did send it in a box it would have cost even more than the $5 to ship (you received the air letter rate). i hope i have addressed all of your questions.

thanks frank
