Im gonna have to go with Galaga. Im a huge fan of it. In my opinion, nothing delivers the way Galaga does. Ive been playing it for almost 20 years and I still cant get enough.

I always say... for pure nostalgic reasons it would be the Taito upright of Space Invaders Part II. It's the game I grew up with and has the most mystique to me since I haven't seen it since I was a kid.. not to mention it's very rare in the states.
For pure gameplay purposes it would be Robotron. Enough Said.
For aesthetic purposes (although the Taito upright is very nice hardware as well), for pure looks and coolness I'd probably go with a color Atari vector game.. maybe Major Havoc.

Samurai Shodown 2 is next on my list. If you want to count pinball then Apollo 13 is up there too.

Right now I'd likely say SAR, but I can't stand the marquee on the U.S. version.

Not to steal someone elses idea, but before I even opened this I though "Galaga". It is one of the first games I remember playing.

The Two games I always hovered arround were T2 and the Simpsons... Untill I found Evil Night.
Deffinately Evil Night, don't know why I fell in love with it. Only played it once. Probably the light gun set up...

Single? Nah. I've got to add a few more into my arcade.
I'm searching for Paperboy and Roadblasters to start. Why? Because you can't MAME the special controllers well :) I need handlebars and a steering wheel!
a Neo Geo cab with Bust a Move.
and Double Dragon because that game just kicks ass.

Wow, I've got two of those games already IN my garage! ;) I got a restored Roadblasters delivered to my door for $200, one of my happiest finds. I also have a Neo Geo cab ... no, wait, I have two. It's like having a spare Shinobi arcade game ... which I do.
After thinking about it for a bit, I think I'd have to say 720. Double Dragon, Yie-Ar Kung-Fu, and Track and Field were all close runners up.

i put some long hours on Roadblasters in my day. it was in my local 7-11. i guess a good reason i put in some long hours is that one day we found the master key to it, and would be in free credit heaven for a few hours a day :D

5. Daytona USA

Of course, a way of "cheating" while answering this thread's question would be to say, "a Galaga/Ms. Pac-Man 20th anniversary cab". (and yes, it would be in my dream list :D )

Hmmm, I've got 16 in my garage right now (plus a bunch more in the house). Narrowing it down to 1 is tough, but I'd have to say my Star Wars vector. It was my game back in the arcade days and I still love playing it. Close second (for some reason which I'll never figure out) is Moon Patrol. It's the one I'm playing the most right now.
But why limit yourself to just 1? I'm working on getting all the games I used to like as well as some of the more important games in gaming history. Course, that may be why I can barely fit my car in the garage and have games in practically every room in my house! Not terribly practical, but damn fun!!

I would have to go with Galaga that game just has so many memories. I play console versions of it all the time but I know having the arcade version would be so cool.
On a side note I just got my first arcade machine: Space Harrier details here

As many people have already said, I would have the Simpsons Arcade Game! Mostly because it was never released on any system (right?), and it was my favorite game ever when I was a little kid. For god sakes, I beat it at my friends 2nd grade birthday party at putt putt golf. LOL

For me it would be a toss-up between Shinobi and Rastan, although Shinobi probably gets the nod. A sit-down Out Run would be super sweet too.

My first reaction would be Bubble Bobble as that was my first love. But since I have it on the PSX and it's as close to an arcade cabinet as you can get, I would go for a Simpson's arcade cab. That game has never been ported to anything else. I would love to play it on the right hardware instead of MAMEing it.
My other choice would be a Crazy Taxi sit-down cabinet. Saw one at The Spaghetti Warehouse in Philadelphia a few months ago and fell in love.
Too bad I don't have a garage.

Very nice pick, indeed one of the best 2D beat-em-ups ever made. I would have to go with Outfoxies, an obscure little game that has a special place in my heart. Sadly, the game is RARE AS HELL!

Gals Panic S2 is another good one. I was a huge QIX fan before I discovered this gem! ...It makes me wonder...Imagine the following:
Galagas Panic is to Galaga...
Like Gals Panic is to QIX.
Anybody picking up on what Im saying here? ^^
I wouldn't mind any of those games that made it to the Dreamcast.

The Hard Drivin' Panorama cabinent that was at this year's PhillyClassic. Three screens of goodness. I had never even heard of the Panorama version before, so it was quite a treat to play it. I'm guessing that this is a pricey machine, but I'd love to have one sitting in my basement.
It'd also be cool to have a Warlords cocktail machine, what a blast with four players!

What single arcade? Why, then that would have to be the one in San Francisco on Pier 39!
Single arcade game however, I've got three to choose from: Mr. Driller 2, Star Wars or Tempest. And if you can throw in a good DDR mix, that would work too. :D

I think If I could have only one (Or hell, one at all) it would be The Simpsons Arcade game, 4-player style. It's just such a great classic game, and everyone loves to play it.
2nd would be DDR Extreme
3rd would be Time Crisis 3
4th would be Mr. Driller
5th would be... a MAME cab :D
