Hey,
I know what I think my games & consoles are worth but is there any web sites that appraise you stuff? I wanted to do this to get a blind eye opinion of my collections value. Like for example if I had:
Game a = 5.00
Game b = 6.00
console c = 20.00
total collection = 31.00
Anyone got a link to such a site?

No no!!
What I ment is like a site that can catalog your whole collection and give you an overall value. Not like here (although the DP guide rocks) I wanted to have all my stuff listed in one place and get a value. I know how to use the online rarity guide, I was just looking for something a little differerent.

ign..............but i wouldnt reccommend them
www.stageselect.com as well

IGN can do that, but usually their total price is so over-bloated it's not even funny.

I used IGN a while back and I think my collection was worth like 14,000 or something crazy... they use the price that they sell for I think... how about cart comander (search for it in google) its a good tool for listing collections but you will have to add the values yourself...

Any chance of DP here ever hosting a tool like this?
It seems like the most logical place to have it. I don't know about everyone else but I'd definately be willing to pay a fee for the use of the server space and bandwidth. Provide each paying user an "About Me" page and about 5 pictures to go with our collections. The fact that the guide prices change on a somewhat regular basis would show updated collection values. We can also post our trade lists there for others who are looking for certain items.
I bet DP would be able to make some good money providing a service like this.

Excell spreadsheet + self input DP prices + a simple column addition formula = the perfect appraising sheet. In fact I could probably do one in 5 mins.
Even better would be an access database list. ABC sort by name/price. Good stuff.
DP does not attempt to price completed/NIB/wrapped games, so as far as them hosting it you would only get a price if all your items were "good as used". LOL

Hmmm... How accurate is the rarity guide though? It also doesn't help for things like PAL releases as many aren't listed...
I use eBay as a general (But not always accurate) guide to how much my stuff is worth. After all - It's only worth what people are willing to pay for it, so in that respect eBay is a good source. Although it does tend to fluctuate with certain things and at different times of the year.
Also, the rarity guide doesn't take into consideration condition - Obviously a factory sealed FF7 is worth a hell of a lot more than a pre-owned one...

This is already in the works - just waiting for our technical guru to free up some time.

This would make my day. I've never been motivated enough to make my own, and cart commander drives me NUTS since it's inconsistent with DP, and (last I used) had no way to easily add a couple games without going through 400 games you already have (IE doesn't say what carts you still need) Cart commander is great, don't get me wrong, just not quite what I was looking for.

...and thats why we all lubs DP :)
If there were some way to match up trades and wants/extras without pouring 2 hours into the Buy/Sell sub... that would be rather handy. **hint hint** LOL
Last few months I just haven't had the time.

I feel that the DP guide is accurate - for the North American collector. I'm sure if they had reliable data from Europe and Asia it would be there. But who is gonna supply it? The guide (I assume) is set-up for US/Canada so it stands to reason why people outside it's target region find it a little lacking.

yes, i remember spasticfuctard mentioning of this some time ago.
in the meantime, spreadsheets do a much better job of cataloguing than ign does - ign is missing a lot of games. even officially released ones, that you can trip over in the streets, like sterling sharpe's end 2 end for SNES

There is "the master plan", which includes all of these things - even a button to quickly create a description that you can use in your eBay auctions. Login info, update access for our editors, ways to rate and review games as a user...
How close we get to that really depends on everyone's time, especially Adam.
Last few months I just haven't had the time.
Who does, right? Ideally you'd be able to import your own list somehow. Again, this is "master plan" material, but it's certainly something a lot of us want.

Give us a chance! :)
PAL info is already in the database for SMS, MD, MegaCD, 32X, Saturn, Dreamcast and some others. PSX and SNES is in progress.
Other sections are awaiting dedicated & knowledgable editors.

DP: I'm more than willing to help, though I'm unsure just how much help I would be. I've done some study in software design and coding but my knowlegde is rather elementary and limited.
If you can hit half of the targets you mentioned that would surely be an awesome toolset!
anagrama: I'm sorry, I didn't know we had help from across the pond. My point was if the info was had then it would be there. I didn't know it was forthcoming. My apologies... please don't hurt me LOL It's a HUGE job, thanks for taking it up.

Well, i'm willing to help - Just tell me what kind of info you need for things like DreamCast and PS1 and i'm sure I can supply something...
I'm sure there are loads of people who could contribute...
I will agree though that the PAL parts are lacking a little, but I do understand that it is mainly an American orientated site, therefore I didn't really expect too much...
Pond? Seems more like a spillage. A Puddle at best! ;)

if DP let you import from excel...things would be very nice...with prices you spent on each item so they are easily trackable...with automatic estimates of each games value taking into consideration the categories of condition, box and manual...mmm...
