Well, consider this. If I were to add up the amount of play-time dedicated to every new release I picked up this year, then Katamari would receive well over the total hours of all the other games put together. Looking at it that way, I see no reason why I shouldn't select that as Game of the Year. It clearly was for me - the math backs it up, if nothing else. I'm sure I'm not alone, so I think Katamari is as viable a contender as any other game.

what's your reasoning for that. you have no info to back it up. obviously you are in the minority here with that statement (as you can see from everyone's votes.) if everyone were to say Halo 2 or Half-Life 2 or Doom 3 would it not be considered a fanboy fetish? ..... but just because you say so, this is??

As usual, I won't be voting since I haven't played nearly enough games that were released this year. However, I'm curious to know if something like the Commodore 64 Direct-to-TV joystick would be eligible for the "Best Classic Gaming "Redux" or Compilation" category even though it isn't actually a game released for a system.

I wish I had been able to purchase newcoleco's "Reversi" game, with the bonus "Boulder Dash" style game. Then I could nominate it for something.

But for now, assuming this goes by "for a given system," I'd have to say CV Sky Jaguar*, the MSX game put onto the CV by Opcode. There is nothing like it for the CV, and if you've played it for real, it's a blast.

There's a strange trend going on lately. That's like three times in a month that I agree with you (which makes three times in four years :)). It's a great game, a memorable game, but not a very replayable game (IN MY OPINION!). I still think it deserves a nomination and if it wins here i wouldn't be surprised. It's a throwback and a highly imaginative title - that's what retrogamers typically gravitate towards!
