How many games do you think the systems( Xbox, GC, Ps2) will end up with by the time they are discountinued? Also, how many games are there for each system right now, a rough estimate.

Not as many as other consoles like the DreamCast, 32X, Mega Cd, Saturn Etc... Ha! All Sega Consoles! Who'd have thought!

I would estimate there are about 2000 PS2 games by now, and around 400 GameCube and Xbox games... Bearing in mind the PS2 has been out two and a half years longer than the other two!

It's a crazy world out there - people rteleasing games left, right, and centre - I remember the Snes and Mega Drive never had this many games to choose from!!!

But then, we never really had three major players back then...

How many games did the PS1 and N64 end up with? And what about the NES, MS, Snes, and Mega Drive Etc???

I meant in total - Japanese games included.

I would possibly say that it has reached 1000 a long time ago though! That's only about 250 games released in a year, plus you also have all these budget games now flooding the supermarkets...

Yeah - PS2 might have 2000 titles but, how many would you actually play?
At last count (US/C titles) my total was around 200 games - 1:10 ratio isn't that great. I'll bet at least 800 of those 2000 games are sports titles LOL

The visual graph got to be very complicated and cluttered, but here is a list of all systems with the count of US-released titles from out database:

Here's one that includes all countries:

Well i meant US Releases for the PS2, wow according to that list PS2 has almost reached 1,000 and is the PS1 still making games? Does that list include homebrews, demos, etc?

Official US releases only, no demos or homebrews. If I'm not mistaken, the PSX is no longer having titles released. Maybe one more, but I don't think so.

I'm not sure anybody will touch that PS1 total. I just don't see the PS2 hanging on as long after it's 'death' as the PS1 has, and I don't see anybody else coming even *close* to Sony's totals for a *long* time (if ever).

(And yes, I'm talking solely about North American releases because I personally don't much care about imports so the total number of games somewhere else isn't as interesting).

The numbers in the reports I posted above do not include homebrews but they do include demo discs. I don't have any demo information for the PS2 yet though, so the 900+ US library is pretty much all games at the moment.

ever think about popping that system totals sheet into the back of the DP guides? thats a cool list, and would only take about half a page for each book. i know the totals are listed at the end of each section(in the advance guide and i assume in DP guide 8), but the list is interesting...

i printed it off, so itll be in my guide anyways!

The last North American and Europe PS1 release was EA Sports FIFA 2005, released in October 2004.

There are still a few ones coming out in Japan but they are re-releases, not really new games.

I've been keeping on top of it. Other sites list games that aren't out yet. Our database puts them in the Rumor Mill (if at all). The DP list is accurate.

Are you including the Red Alarm and Wario Land "not for resale" democarts and the Virtual Boy Technical Demo? The count in that report includes them (on the online database, select "non-games" as well as "US games".

Hey, I've got Sega Rally Championship in my N-Gage! What do I have, a Euro version?

Honestly, I'm really quite surprised the N-Gage is still alive and kicking (even if it's not kicking very hard).

Are you serious? Do you have to box for it? Can you post a pic? Check if its the Euro version, becuase this game is nearly impossible to find, try it yourself.

Mobygames is great, and a great bunch of guys (I've worked with them on a number of occasions) but they're far from complete. Example: the first system I clicked, Atari 2600, shows 255 games. Our database has 526 US releases alone.

Honestly - you're not going to find a better videogame database than the one that's here. I promise.

Ah the current systems...

PSOne has just at 1270ish released titles. This isnt counting the 100+ Lightspan titles, nor any of the demo's ect ect, this system will be over shadowed by its big brother, which has been moving at a faster release pace than the PS ran at. As of right now officially the PS ended production in America with FIFA Soccer 2005 back in Oct of this year.

Currently the PS2 is sitting in the 900 range (while having given out well over 1000 SLUS catalog numbers and a fair count of SCUS ones too) With the apperance of the PS3 still at least a year off and the fact that the PS2 will still recieve heavy development after its launch (much like the PS did) expect IMO 1600-1800 US releases when alls said and done.

XBox is just over 500 titles currently and the Cube is right in the 400 range or so.
