has anyone else here heard about the supposed modification that allows the DS to play GB / GBC games?

Guy's mod info -

And there is a "debunk" here
http://www.livejournal.com/community/nintendo_ds/81844.html

What do you guys think?
I saw these links in the order I listed them, and I was skeptical at first, bellieved it after I saw the pictures, but now I have to agree it seems kinda hoaxy now that I read the debunk. However, a lot of people posted and said it works? O_O

So is this BS or for real?

It's a hoax....

All Gameboy games show up in color with the GBA SP.

He just put a flashcart inside the Pokemon cart and then ran a GameBoy Emulator to play the Pokemon game....

Some people are a waste of space. :/

its fake

the screenshots are in different placements on the ds screen

also, the sticker on the back of the system that was supposedly opened to mod it is still perfect and doesnt look like it was lifted to remove the hidden screw at all

This is a hoax, and I was witness to the beginning of it. I even laughed and encouraged it, because I'm a terrible person.

I didnt look at it. I must admit. Because the ability to play B&W and Color gameboy games on the DS is actually very simple. Don't tell me everyone through away their "Flash Link Xpress'" already. Just export the GBA game, put them onto Flash Link cards, and voila! A version playable on the DS. True, you might need an emulator put on the cart also, but how easy is that? Just have to import that also. That's how I played all my NES games on the GBA (LOOOOONG BEFORE THE CLASSIC SERIES). You can fit a lot of GB and ES games on a flash link card.....So mosey on over to Like Sang (http://www.lik-sang.com) and see if they still sell the Flash link Xpress.

They might not, I know that Nintendo larsuited their asses pretty hard this year.

Anyhow, yeah, you can get the games over to the DS that way, but still - how's the DS gonna play them? As far as I know it doesn't have a Z-80 onboard, so that could prove difficult.

Emulators on a Flash Card.....

You could use Pocket Nes, SnesAdvance....Goomba ....etc etc...

Keep up man.... LOL

GBA-DS Hoax Alert

Something Awful Forums user 'Regulus #5' e-mailed Nintendojo with the following message:

"There is currently a hoax going on originating from a certain internetforum which tries to trick people into ruining their DS by soldering wires and shaving off plastic to play GB/GBA games on the DS. Of course, this is not only impossible, but all people who attempt this will ruin their DS."

Consider yourself warned.

The big issue is the voltage, isn't it? The DS isn't set up like the GBA with a switch to change voltage to the cartridge port.
