Nice extra, seems like they tossed that in to make up for the lack of online play in the Gamecube version.

This may turn into an unintentional case of whipping the fanboys into a frenzy, but:
Online Play > team of Nintendo characters.
Neat idea, but really, for longevity and value's sake, online play is by far the better deal.

If you really want to talk about longevity, how about what happens in a few years when the EA servers for this game shut down to make way for the next wave of games?

Interesting.
I wonder if each console is going to have an exclusive character (like Namco did with Soul Calibur II).

Touche! But while it lasts, online will definitely be a stronger influence in at least my purchase than Nintendo characters would be. Like I said, it's a neat idea, but hardly makes up for the non-existent online play in a game that would greatly benefit from it.

That would be interesting...maybe have Master Chief, a Covenant Elite, Voodoo Vince and Blinx representing for MS.
Then on Sony's end, you'd have Jak, Daxter, Ratchet, Clank and Sly Cooper.
Now that I think about it, that would be too awesome(/nerdy) to actually ever work out.

Or, in thise case, being EA, the NEXT year.
So far, all their sports games are only playable online until the following years' versions come out. Yup. Madden 2004 online? Forget it. You HAVE to upgrade :grumble:
