while playing Sonic 1 on Sonic Jam, i realised you can Spin Dash (Down+A) even though on the orignal Sonic 1 this wasnt even invented!!!
Are there any areas in the game which people have found which were previously undiscovered thru the Spin Dash? or any lil things this ability helps you with on Sonic 1?

I don't know, I usually turn the spindash off. It feels like cheating for some reason. Hell, I guess even I get TOO hardcore once in a while.

Hmm...that's pretty cool. I'd love to have a copy of the game some day, but it usually is quite expensive for an ntsc copy.

The Japanese one is pretty cheap, if you've got a modified console. It's the same game.

Didn't know that. Have to keep an eye out for it.. kinda makes sense seeing as how Sonic was much more popular in the US than in Japan.

yup I found it was weird you can spin dash but it only helps that some places you don't need a running start to destroy the wall and that you can kill a lot more enemies without pouncing on it "mario style"
I have a copy without a back insert...If you guys want to throw an offer out I might part with it since there are other sonic collections out there now.
I know this post is in the wrong forum but...eh

to me, that was the best damn feature of Sonic 1 on Sonic Jam....I wonder why in the hell this wasnt used in Mega Collection...
Yet the spin dash came in handy in "Spring Yard Zone"

Probably because the games are actually emulated in the Mega Collection, instead of rewritten for the Saturn. It was probably a lot more feasible to add in the spindash on a reprogram than it is to alter the original Genesis code. Hell, I'd be surprised if any of the low-level programmers at Sega even know what a Genesis devkit looks like.

Sonic 1 is already too easy as it is. Putting spindash in makes it unreasonably easy.

On a side note to this, has anyone noticed the slowdown present in Sonic 2 on Sonic Jam that wasn't present in the original? Drives me crazy. Had to get the cart version.

Hmm, interesting. Personally, I've wondered what it would be like playing through Sonic 1 with Knuckles.
