Erm...
Did you look at the date on that "news item"?
[EDIT: oh, I see what you mean, I think. The OLD news item you posted seems more relevant TODAY. What's your theory on how one relates to the other? Could make for a great "conspiracy" thread!]
Sammy and Sega are merged. The EA/Sega thing never happened.

By George, he's got it!
By the way RCM, just because one company buys another, it doesn't mean it can't sell it off again...
JUST TO BE CLEAR (You never seem to know on DP): I'm not saying that is going to happen. As Joe speculated, I'm just saying, "Hmmmmm...".

I was thinking maybe you were going with something like...
1) The EA and Sega merger talk went horribly bad. EA balked at Sega's lowballing offer.
2) To retaliate, Sega releases all of their sports titles at $20.
3) EA fires off their weapons of mass destruction and takes the NFL exclusivity, rendering Sega helpless in the sports game market.
... or something. ;)

I'll take partial blame for that one!
Still, I don't see how it would be in Sammy's interests to seperate themselves from the arcade giant with one of the best game IP and back catalog collections around.
