Has anything been set as far as a release date for the PSP in the U.S.? Are any stores taking pre orders for it yet?

Nothing has been announced along the lines of a US Release date. The rumoured estimate is in March, that way it still makes the First Quarter release, albeit the last month of the first quarter.
There has been a rumor floating around that Sony will announce all US launch info in early January. Maybe they will announce a release date earlier than March! :D

Thanks for the information. Getting a DS has made me get back into portable gaming. I have a SP also but I like the touch screen....can't wait to at least test drive the PSP to see if Nintendo has some competition. :D I love new hardware!!!

Someone on another board said they pushed it back to late next year... which would make since, so they could work out all the bugs the Japanese units are suffering from now.

Since it makes sense to wait a bit more for the PSP, I'm glad I have the DS now.
