I saw that article too. It says it will be compatible with the GBA too. Very cool

Is this the device? Link (http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n08/avp/index.html)

Most interesting part in that Article to me was that the when you add the price of the device to the price of the DS, it equals out the difference between it and the PSP. With the PSP having a lot more processing power.

Hardware add-on's have such a high rate of success I'm sure this is gonna be the nail-in-the-coffin for the PSP. <end sarcasm>

Obviously this is nothing new but what makes it interesting is that it's an official Ninty hardware add-on.

I also like that it's GBASP compatible because I ALWAYs have my SP with me.

I don't know if I'm going to get a DS or PSP yet but I'm fairly certain that I won't be ditching my SP anytime soon.

My question is, WHO IS THAT SEXY YOUNG MAN ON THE LEFT IN THAT PIC? He's wearing the Dr. Who style outfit in case you can't see. LOL

I read the article this morning as well and figured coming to the Forums would get me some more information... (oh well)

Ninty evidently planned out what being up against the PSP would be like, and keeping that in mind developed all the systems to complete.

Now, let's hope video isn't like the Cartoons on cartidge they have been selling... I read something about being able to download content to writeable carts view later... once you can hook something like this to a computer, let the mods begin! (and let's hope our fellow geeks can do this in less time than it took to mod the 'Cube!)

Do you think it would be a good idea to wait for this or just buy this one http://www.shacknews.com/extras/gbaplayer/ ?

For myself, I would probably wait on the new unit.

I would suspect the new unit will utilize the touch screen functions, most likely putting the play controls on the touch screen itself. Plus, Nintendo tends to learn from the past, and that write up wasn't real glowing for the software portion.

Otherwise, it's a nifty gadget, but what would you really use it for? I can see some fun with music files but like the reviewer said, would you really want to read War and Peace on such a tiny little screen?

Merry Christmas!
