Funny story.

If you work retail and visit this site, you probably know about the Microsoft XBox retail site. For those not in the know, you go to the site, take some quizzes, earn points, and then use them towards new games. They usally only run about $9. It's a great program that I've used quite a bit.

Anyway, I made and order last week for Outrun 2 and Sudeki. Got the package yesterday and the Sudeki case was crushed. Completely. So, I use their online form and ask them what I should do. Obviously I just want another copy. They tell me to open it and try the disc to see if it's ok. I did, and it worked fine mircaulously (you should see the case!). So I dropped them a line and told them it worked and asked what I should do now.

In my e-mail signature, I have a link to DP that says I write for the site. Cheap and blatant promotion, but it works. This morning I woke up to this E-mail:

"Matt -

We observed in your email signature that it appears you are employed by a company not authorized as a participating retailer. The program rules state that you must be employed by an authorized Xbox retailer in order to participate. Please confirm your eligibility status."

LOL

Not sure what I have to do now, but that's just funny. I never knew I was employed by DP. Joe, where's my check? Can I pick it up at the payroll office?

The alternate title to this thread could be "I Got DP in Trouble by Scamming from Microsoft".

LOL

Unless you DO work for a certified Xbox retailer (?) I know that at one time pretty much anyone who knew an employee at these stores qualified but now you need to prove that you work at the store as well. So how were you still getting games through that program?

Oh, I DO work for Toys R Us. I'm in, that's not an issue. Obviously, they don't think so. I guess I'm not allowed to hold down two jobs!

Just explain to them that if they don't give you the damn game you're going to get DP INDUSTRIES INC to buy their little company and send you the game themselves. That's right, make 'em squirm.

pretty funny story, but you obviously meet the requirements to get the games, so just let them know that you work at TRU and everything should be fine

FBI came looking for him at my store the other day, they referred to him as "Bowling Ball Bag Bob", I told them he high tailed it to Mexico.

The aforementioned Xbox Retail site is fucking awesome. Sony doesn't have anything like it and Nintendo's version of it sucks balls (you take little quizzes to be entered in drawings x_x ). Retail has hooked me up with many good (and a few mediocre) games, but it's a sweet program and but one of many reasons MS gets most of my current-gen gaming cash.

Also, for those of you that do it, save up enough points to get more than one game at a time, you save on shipping that way. It also sucks they aren't allowing multiples of any game anymore, I used to do that to get games for my friends that we could play online together. Either way, it's a great program and if you're working retail and aren't doing it....what the hell are you waiting on?

And let them know that unless they supply you with a completely factory sealed copy, Gemini-Phoenix will sue the hell out of them for breaking their own rules!!!

I'm getting quite a reputation around the South-East of England for upsetting a number of major game distributor's regarding them selling (Or rather NOT selling) factory sealed games!!!

Just for the record - Xbox games should come with their white security seal unbroken. If a shop sells an Xbox game without that white seal (Maybe for security purposes), then you are quite within your rights to report them back to Microsoft who will come down on them like a ton of bricks!!!

Basically I have more or less threatened nearly every retailer in the Suffolk area with reporting them to Microsoft unless they start selling sealed Xbox games... Hmmm, looks like they haven't complied - Maybe it's time to make a phone call...
