MAME sound doubling

This is probably something well-documented, and either an easy fix or sompltely unavaoidable, but is there any way to fix sounds in MAME from repeating themselves? Example being in random games that involve speech, a girl will say something, and then say it again before she's done saying it the first time, etc.

Is there a fix for this? Did I miss a really obvious readme somewhere? Thanks for th input.

I assume this only happens is certain games? If so it's probably just an emulation bug. Check the MAME FAQ (not sure of the exact URL, but there's a BB for it at mame.net) and also check the mame tester's page. You should be able to find info on this in one of those places.

i updated my sound drivers and it fixed the problem of sound doubling for me

That's accually a damn good idea, why I didn't think of that I dunno. Hopefully that'll fix it up.




edit: Seemed to help somewhat, but DAMN I'd forgotten how much of a bitch it can be to update a creative card. Yikes.
