Taken from GamesAreFun.com

Reports are coming in that the initial shipment of PSP units is seeing some defective units getting to the public.

These defects include:

Dead pixels, as many as 3 per screen with the problem.
Broken UMD drives.
Analog nubs not working.

Sony has yet to make any official announcement about any of these issues, and about how users with any of these problems can recitfy them.

Be sure to check back for Sony's response to these issues.

UPDATE: More problems ahoy!

Analog nubs not just not working, but actually falling off.
PSP is turned on, but does not start up.
Screen has air bubbles.
Screen has dust on the inside.

Also, as for the UMD drive problems, some have reported the drive not closing completely, and the UMD, when the PSP is twisted, actually flies out!*

*Here's something funny...

Any thoughts?

There's a seperate forum for DS/PSP threads so that the rest of us can safely ignore them once the fanboyz/haterz come a-flyin'.

After watching that clip I think Sony needs to remarket this to some type of "nerf" toy. I can see the commercial now, 10 kids facing off, each with a PSP discs flying everywhere LOL

I've heard nothing but bad things about the DS Shipments stateside. Very blurry screens, dead pixels, etc... Most of the local stores I've checked the displays at are broken within 1-2 days of launch and still haven't been fixed (Whereas the original gba and sp from years ago are playing perfectly fine along side it)

Couple people on CAG report having to return their DS systems 5-6 times before they find one that doesn't suck.

Ehh, big deal. This kind of thing happens. Even the Famicom was shipped out with major problems when it was first released and had to be recalled by Nintendo. I'm sure Sony will do everything they can to fix the PSP problems.

What?
A defective Sony product?

NEVER HAPPENS. LOL

Well, by the 7th revision of the hardware, they'll get it right anyway. All the Playstations and PS2s were like that, so I'd imagine all the PSPs'll get straightened out in a similar fashion.

:hmm: Well I did write in my last post in this thread to delete this topic since I had noticed yours in a different section(the one mine is in now). I cant delete it, so its a job for the mods.

I had no intentions of stealing your thread, even though mine does look more pretty... :P
