Champions of Horrath, eh? I guess they even had some rare protos. :D
Awww, crap, they even took away Midway Treasures 2??
I guess Kosmik Kroozer is just too much of a murder simulator....

Why would they take away Midway Treasures 2? Maybe I'm taking this way too personally, but that pisses me off.

Probably because of NARC, but more likely it was Total Carnage.
I wonder what they are playing now?
Any Strawberry Shortcake XBox games out there yet?

geesh, i thought prison was suppossed to be punishment, what are they doing with a game room?

But NARC taught us an important lesson about how even messy violence is more socially acceptable than drugs. They should be ENCOURAGING inmates to play NARC.

A game room in a prison adds new meaning to "Room of Doom", doesn't it?
I agree with both of you - they probably shouldn't have a game room in the first place - but they should be forced to play NARC!

Heh. Nothing like playing "The Suffering" in a prison...
By the way, when I first saw this topic, I thought that "Dudes In Prison" was the name of a local used game store, heh.

I agree, while seniors have to jump through flaming hoops to get prescription drugs, the system does seem messed up.

The reason they let prisoners play games and watch TV and lift weights is because if they didn't have those things there would be a hell of a lot more fights and gang violence in prison, making it more dangerous for guards and the immates themselves.

I must be the only one that found the writer of the article funny. Did you guys notice that he mentioned Grand Theft Auto right before saying that it had the same things that the prisoners did while they were at liberty?
Liberty......Grand Theft Auto......Are you making the connection?
Maybe I am just reading into it, but it made me laugh. COuld he have accidently slipped a pun into that article?
Regardless. I liked

I agree, also adding priviledges in prison gives the inmates the incentive not to have them taken away. People used to get grumpy about conjugal visits (do they still do those?), but they were a reward for the most well behaved prisoners, it encouraged good behavior.
It comes down to the main problem with prisons, are they trying to
1. punish
2. reform
3. or just keep inmates out of society?
Hard to do a good job on all three at once.

So let them have cards and Scrabble and things like that. But geez, there are poor kids out there whose only crime is being born into poverty that would desperately WANT the things that PRISONERS have. That's F'ed up.

Yeah - that's the truth. Frend of mine's brother was a prison guard for a few years after the military. He said that tv was the best way to keep them from killing each other/attacking guards. It pacifies them, the same way overworked parents use it to babysit kids.

What have they been replaced with though? I sppose Mary-Kate & Ashley's Crush Course or Mega Mall games are out (Because of all the Paedophiles)!!!
Surprised they didn't have Metal Gear Solid II, but then I suppose that would've been taken away too!
So what does that leave them? Sports games? Fishing games?
So would they still be allowed games like Gran Turismo? What about all the people locked up for motoring offences??? Lol!
So strictly speaking, there really isn't a single game suitable for use by an inmate... If you really think long and deep about it!

Exactly. How about they remove ALL the games/systems these prisoners are enjoying. They are in prison for a reason, and that reason is NOT to have fun.

My brother is in jail currently, and may be in there for up to seven years. If they have enough money in their commissary accounts, they can purchase DS's and games. He is in a low-security part of the jail, where they are not on lockdown, and can pretty much do as they please..

Not quite. Visit a prison lately?

Like I said earlier, prisoners aren't given TVs and games for fun, they are given them so they are distracted/ have something to do. Would you rather they form up gangs? If, god forbid, I have to spend a night in jail or something, I would want bubba to be having sex with prostitues in GTA, not with me.
I say give 'em back Bad Boys & DMC2. Playing either of those is punishment enough.
But everyone should try "Bloodrayne" at least once.
