View Full Version : N-gage questions...

I know I'm spinning wheels here, but does anyone on the forum actually own an N-gage? I just got Pandemonium, Puzzle Bobble, Puyo Pop, Tomb Raider and Virtua Tennis for $2 each new yesterday at EB, but I'm waiting for the system to drop before I pick one up.

Can you play the games without having the phone service turned on? And does anyone know or can anyone guess how long it will take for these suckers to drop to a manageable amount so I can buy one?

Thanks.

We've had a few of these threads, you might want to read these to see if your questions have already been answered:

I don't personally own one, but I can vouch for the Crash Bandicoot racing game being completely impossible on that stupid screen. Give me a nice arcade-perfect Galaga '88 on that screen, though, and we're in business!

Thanks, TheRedEye. I think it's just the cheapie in me that made $2 games attractive. If the system completely fails, then that's all the better for me, but even $60 is too rich for my blood right now.

You can play the games without service as long as the phone has a SIM card inside.

Thank you for your input as well, oob.

I've had a N-Gage QD for about a month now...I actually really enjoy it. It's not the greatest portable system in the world, but conisdering that its now my phone, plays games, movies, IM, internet and mp3s it's a pretty cool little device for $200... Tomb Raider and Pro Skater aren't too shabby, but I haven't got much past those.

And you can play the N-Gage without having a cell provider. It comes with a "dummy" SIM card so you can play... And if you can pick me up some of those games minus Tomb Raider I'd be happy to pay you back for them. Nobody carries N-Gage around here except for the Cingular store. So I'm basically stuck with EBgames.com.

I've got 9 N-Gage games from EB's recent $2 and $5 sales, yet still no system... it's good to know that the system works without phone service.

yoursisterspretty, the problem is that EB Games.com's pricing changes hourly. I'm sure Querjek and others can vouch for me on this. I lucked up on the N-gage games I got for $2 yesterday. For instance, Spider-Man 2 had been $2 and it went back up to $30 yesterday.

Trust me, though, even if your EB doesn't have N-gage on the shelf, ask if they have games in the back. The EB I went to didn't store its N-gage stuff out front because they haven't sold much of it. I know Bomberman and Crash Nitro are still $5, but that's too rich for my blood.

Unfortunately, I'm unemployed right now so I probably shouldn't be buying anymore games period. But I have an addiction to anything that's cheap and playable, so...

How cheap do you want them to get!!! Lol!

I bought mine in June (Original model - far superior!) and it cost me £80 and that included a game (Sonic N), A Pay As You Go sim card as well as the phone being unlocked for any network!!! Now that is a bargain in my books!

And I guess that also answers your other question - Yes, I do own an Ngage.

$2 each - I guess they must've been clearing out their stock! GAME over here already stopped stocking the games and consoles a long time ago!!!

Come to think of it, so have pretty much every mobile phone shop - Where the hell do they expect us to buy new releases then???

I reckon Ngage stuff will be really collectable in the future just for the fact that you can't readily get hold of any games on the high street.

I'll call tommorow and ask, but I doubt they do. I live in the middle of nowhere (the EB itself is 45 minutes away). I know for a fact that they don't carry the system itself because I called and asked when I was looking for mine. I had to drive a hour and a half to a GameStop to find the one I did. They had 2 systems and tons of games all collecting dust. I think they thought I was crazy. "You want to buy an N-Gage....OK...." I could've maybe bought one from AT&T WS (my provider), but after the merger I wasn't sure. And anyway I wanted the phone to be unlocked so I could take it to Cingular in case I wanted to "switch over".

I forgot to mention that NES and GB emulation on the 'Gage is pretty nice also.

Wow... Your EB has N-Gage stuff? I've only seen one Gamestop in the area that has any N-Gage stuff, never seen an EB (and I've checked a bunch of EBs/Gamestops). But yes, I do have an N-Gage, and I love it! Emulation on it is great (I've got MAME, NES, and Gameboy, but there are others too).

Trust me, Gemini-Phoenix, I wait for games to hit their absolute low before I pick them up. Especially for systems I don't yet own.

I have a brand new N Gage QD with a copy of the new Sega RPG Pocket Kingdoms. It's really fun, I just don't have time to play it. Anyone want to buy it off me?

I went to EB recently and they didn't have any used NG games. Gamestop had 2 of them though. They were $7

I have a N Gage QD got it for $40 shipped but it was missing the simcard  so i used the simcard out of my t mobile sidekick II and it worked fine on the nage but i wanna to get one for the ngage so i dont have to switch back n forth and funny thing is even i used my own simcard and the seller left his messages and etc all in there LOL !!!

Jesus, what the hell are we teaching kids in English these days?

Hey man, that's not cool, Dojosky is a good friend of mine. He's deaf in real life, I know the grammar maybe horrible to you. Yet he has trouble typing from time to time.

OK, guys, I've got an extra Puyo Pop but rather than sell it, I would rather get a new copy of NCAA Football 2004 or Moto GP for N-Gage if anybody's got an extra. I almost returned it, but for $2 you can't beat good trade bait.

I've had my N-gage QD for about a month now and oh how im lovin' it. I have 11 games now and some are actually pretty good. I just switched my simcard from my old cheapie nokia phone, the provider is at&t, and it works great.

It's always amazing how systems start becoming "popular" when there starts to be deep discounts...
