I remember playing Phantasy Star II and crying my eyes out. Thats when I knew I was a true gamer. The fact that a video game made me cry. sniff sniff... :bawling: I truly loved that game.
The other game that changed my life was Final Fantasy 2. I cried at the end of that one too. I guess I was a very emotional child.

cant say it made me cry, but the deep throat feeling was there during the ending scenes of Zelda Links Awakening

I cried the first time I played Grim Fandango. Not because it was an emotional game, but because it was so good I couldn't stand it.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one.

I actually did cry at the endings of Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker. Those were some touching moments. :(

You poor bastard.

The only game that made me close to crying was Shadow Hearts Covenant. I was soo sad I beat it plus the story was a tear jerker as well.

I not afraid to admit I have a tendency to cry at the end of truly great games, such as Megaman X, Megaman 3, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Gitaroo-man, Illiusion of Gaia, and probably more I'm forgetting.

but I think that's why i truly love video games. No other art form truly gets you in touch with the characters like a video game.

Also, I cried tears of joy when I learned that Katamari damacy and Viewtiful Joe sold well enough to warrent sequels. :D

Only two games have had me almost cry. I said almost...Ocarina of time and Metal Gear Solid for the PSX. If I had cried I would admit it. :(

I've never cried while playing a game, but I was completely entranced and awestruck the first time I played through the final level of Rez.

Hmm, Mario Sunshine isn't a RPG... The only Mario games that could be considered RPGs (in case you forgot) are: Mario RPG, Paper Mario, Mario and Luigi SuperStar Saga and Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door.

Bunch of great moments here...

I teared up a bit at the end of Final Fantasy X, but I'm a sucker for "lost soulmate" stories. :embarrassed:

But on a different note, I nearly applauded and gave a standing ovation when I finished Katamari Damacy and fully understood just how HUGE the game world was. Fantastic design there.

I cried on the burnout 2 save game screen. As I watched it corrupt my memory card and I lost my viewtiful joe, eternal darkness, and Zelda save games :'(

I'll fess up...way, way back when, when I first discovered MAME, I'd occasionally get a tear or two in my eye from the thought that I was utilizing a set of synapses that had last been active in, well, shall we say, better days. And I'll admit, playing some of the coin-ops at CGE a couple of years ago, and at OKGE this year, I stopped just this side of getting the sniffles.

As annoying as I was when I was a kid, I definitely miss my gaming days from when I was that age.

I'm 99.9% sure he means Mario RPG for the SNES.

I just got the game yesterday. Unfortunetely I don't really care for RPG's. Not that I don't /appreciate/ them, I just am not one for playing them. Sorry :P

Oh, and about crying over a game...hmmm...only in frustration. And that's just teary eyes. No wailing or anything LOL

I think I might've cried over that one. Can't remember. It was a surprise to me because I hadn't played the first Lufia.

I cried a few times during Chrono Trigger. I think I even cried a tiny bit on replays. I haven't played it in a long time, but just recently I bought the soundtrack, and "To Good Friends" and "To Far Away Times" STILL makes me get a little choked up. Absolutely stunning composition in that game. That was the main factor in why I cried.

I don't think I've cried while playing a game since back when I was an angstly, emotional teenager, though. o_O Hell, back then even Final Fantasy 7 made me cry, despite the fact that I find the "big scene" totally laughable now (and every other attempt at storytelling in that game, as well).

Although it didn't bring me to tears. I must also agree with you that Chrono Trigger had a simply amazing soundtrack. In fact, sometimes I just play the game to hear some of the better tracks in it.

I can't say I've ever full out cried to a game before.

But I mean, there's been emotional.. moist eyed moments I'd say.

Metal Gear Solid 3

Ah, not many moments though.

I can say that I'm a very emotional person; I have often shed a tear or two over my favourite games. I usually devote myself truly to the games I play, and am rarely left untouched by moments of true greatness.

Honorable mentions go to: Chrono Trigger, Deus Ex, Metroid Prime, Eternal Darkness, Final Fantasy III(VI), Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest II (GB), Final Fantasy VII (strangely not during Aeris' scene), Super Castlevania IV, Zelda: Link to the Past (yes, during the credits ;) ) , Grim Fandango, Loom and Ikaruga just to name a few...

The most recent I can remember is Chrono Cross, which is probably the most emotional experience a video-game has ever offered me...

Hmmm.

Most recently there were some moments in Skies Of Arcadia where the sadness crept in. There was such a good story line there.

But back in the day it had to be while playing Phantasy Star II like someone else mentioned earlier. There is some dark stuff in that game.

There was also the first time playing Budokan when you got halfway through the game and you rush home to find the Sensei had died...

I won't mention the times playing Conkers bad fur day when tears were streaming from my eyes but not from crying :)

I think I've said this before, but its always fun to go over it again.

Planetfall. Text only. When Floyd . . . you know. *sniff* But just one tear, just a single manly tear.

Chrono Trigger's ending, not because it was sad, just because it had that feeling of "hey we're young, we've got a flying time machine and we can do whatever the hell we want!" joy feeling along with the great music.

I agree completely; the ending of Rhapsody was smegging brilliant. That's why I'm so sad the sequel (which takes place more or less immediately after the first game) was never released in English.

Hmm. I thought Skies of Arcadia had a weak story. It was very plain and simple. Also, did anything really sad happen? I don't remember ever seeing something sad in it. Anyways I was disappointed in that game once I beat it.
