I'd like to know too...Sign me up day one.
I'm kinda hoping it is in the spring though.
I had fun too. Right now were planning on having it at the same place, The Inn at Reading. We are looking to double the size and improve the show in every way we possibly can. If you guys have any suggestions send me a PM! Everything is still up in the air but I think we are going to have a September show again. Hope to see everyone there again!

I can only think of one substantial (but a tad unrealistic) improvement - Infrastructure improvements/upgrades on the municipal roads and highways leading to The Inn. Maybe 2-3 lanes in each direction on those straightouttathesticks roads.
Aside from that, I just want little things:
1) Keep the free admission, or if that goes away at least keep it cheap.
2) Last year you touted free food/drinks - I didn't see any. If you hype it, have it. If you don't have it, that's perfectly acceptable too.
3) Doubling the space is good. Last year I couldn't get near the tournaments, as that end of the room was pretty much impenetrable.
4) a few more coin-ops, more classic-oriented.
Don't know what else to add. If it was identical to last year I'd go anyway, as I thought it was already fantastic as-was.

Oh, a few more things:
Obviously I overlooked the instructions to PM you, sorry, but now I'm on a roll....
How about a Donkey Konga set-up? Perhaps a tournament?
Ditto for Karaoke Revolution - that should be going all day, and you should get lots of the KR down on video. I think it would be a blast to see footage of folks getting down on it. It would make terrific archival footage should the show go on for several years, too.
1) Keep the free admission, or if that goes away at least keep it cheap.
Nothing is concrete yet but it's our hope that admission will stay free. Lets put it this way, if it was up to me every show would be free.
2) Last year you touted free food/drinks - I didn't see any. If you hype it, have it. If you don't have it, that's perfectly acceptable too.
We had a free keg. Nothing more. Point taken though. Last ECGE was my first ever promoting. I've taken a more active role this time around. If we do advertise free drinks and food it will be there.
3) Doubling the space is good. Last year I couldn't get near the tournaments, as that end of the room was pretty much impenetrable.
Yep. another thing we're working on. The tournaments proved to be very popular.
4) a few more coin-ops, more classic-oriented.
I'm with you on that. Pengo was nice and all but I needed more too!
Keep the requests coming! It was great chatting with you last show Noah. I don't think I talked to anyone longer.

Yeah, the show was great, I can't wait until the next one. I would have liked more classic game tournaments, since I'm not much of a DDR, Halo, etc. game player. I did think it was really cool how the game stands all had their own events and games playing, I got to play some really cool obscure games while I was there.
I've got around 35 arcade games at my house, I could probably bring two if you guys want (and if anyone else is from the DC area that could take some up, that'd work too).

I will be completely honest. 2 Philadelphia area shows back to back is not good. Some people have time for both, being in graduate school I sure don't. I am fortunate to be in an area where there are video game shows, where as other areas dont have shows.
I just am overwhelmed by the video game goodness!

Philly Classic was in march or april of this year. We were in September. I would hardly call that "back to back." The shows share stuff (like the founders) but are very different. The first ECGE was a bit more intimate than the PC5. I would personally like to keep that kind of vibe. Not a bash to the PC5. I really enjoyed the PC5 a lot. A lot of great cabs on freeplay! The point is that there's room for us both. I have no interest in competeing with the PC or any other show. That would defeat the purpose of a game show. It's all about unity! True gamers should not be against each other!

Rumor has it that Philly Classic 2005 will be held in late fall - possible late October:

From the look of the official site it is going to be in the fall. Oh well. Not worried in the slightest. I'm looking forward to ECGE2 and PC6. Both should be a lot of fun.

Dates aren't definate yet, but ECGE 2 should be held sometime in September 2005. Even tho' we don't have concrete dates, we urge prospective tableholders and vendors to drop me a line at chuck@ecgx.com so we can set you up with tablespace at the show. Space always goes quick!
Keep an eye out at www.ecgx.com, I'll be updating the website as more info solidifys.

HOORAY FOR THE EGCX!!!!!
Last time I came, I didn't even get to stay for two hours and I only walked away with a mere two games... and I STILL had a lot of fun! This year will be MUCH better for me... I hope to stay longer, I hope to play a lot more interesting and awesome games, and I do hope it'll take place at the Inn at Reading again... or if not that, then the Sheraton Hotel would also be good. When you're a gamer living in a house that's only thirty minutes away from the city of Wyomissing, it's almost impossible to not get stoked for this event. I expect to see as many Pennsylvanian gamers that can possibly come, as well as gamers from every other state... and maybe even gamers around the world. I welcome you all!!! :D
HOORAY FOR THE EGCX!!!!!
Hooray for you!! The ECGE is going to rock. Spread the word!

I already have spread the word to a couple gaming associates, and I hope that this turnout will be grander than the last one. If Buyatari's plan for an outdoor event happens, I will be one joyous mofo indeed. :D

[Cue my mature, reasonable, dignified style]
For the coming show, you should make every reasonable effort to invite the representative from PlayMessiah back again to raffle off some more of their excellent wireless controllers. During last year's show she was very friendly, helpful, and pleasant. The controllers were of the utmost quality, and showed superb design and workmanship.
[now, cue the baser me coming through.....]
Hey, make sure the chick from PlayMessiah comes back. She was HOT, and super-nice to boot! Hell, as far as I could tell she didn't even have any hangups talking to videogame geeks like me! Gorgeous and non-condescending!!?!? I don't know where you found her, but find more!
The Play Messiah chick was a big hit. I heard many comments about those nice controllers of hers. I've been thinking about this since the last show, would anyone be offended if more ladies were at the next one? I want em, but I don't want to alienate part of our crowd. Any and all feedback would be awesome. Thanks!

MORE CHICKS!!! But make sure that they're into video games, we don't need them complaining that they're bored and want to leave ;) .

That just strikes me as a very weird question. Seriously, I don't see why or how anybody would be turned off if there are more ladies at the next show. I can understand if some care more than others about a stronger female presence, but I don't see anybody actually minding if they are there in greater numbers. How could it be a negative? Either someone would be happy, or simply not care.

Well, I was thinking about getting girls that are dressed provocatively. Our country seems more comfortable watching people die on the news than seeing a female nipple. That's why I asked. These girls wouldn't be naked or anything. We had some kids and young teens at our show last year. I want em to come back. I want everyone to come back! But the PM girl was a hit. The girls I was thinking about bringing in would be there only as eye candy.

Well, in my own opinion, while I wouldn't necessarily mind the eye candy, I think it would somehow cheapen the show. And I actually prefer ladies that you can talk to, and have intelligent conversations with. PM was a real person, not just a bimbo to gawk at, and was actually fun to hang out with at the show.
If you can somehow find other ladies like the lady from Play Messiah (don't recall her name, but I know she visits these forums at least occasionally) - ladies that will at least occasionally play videogames themselves, and that will carry on perfectly normal conversations with the rest of us, socially deficient as some of us may be, that would be better.
And, so as not to unintentionally offend anybody, I realize we already have plenty of super-cool members of the gentler gender here with us already. But most of you gals (POG, QOF, AtariGrl, DigitalPress :D , etc...) weren't at ECGX last year, were you???? I didn't think so!
Obviously this is all just my opinion, so just take it for whatever it's worth.

I agree with you for the most part. We have to figure out a way to get some quality girlys to come out though. Hot chicks that know videogames are good at everything, even family reunions! Ha ha.

I thank you for your opinon! You've given some great feedback. We need more ECGE fans to open their mouths and tell us what they want! Keep it coming!

I really wanted to go (I lived in Ohio), but I was moving to FL on september 11th for a company transfer. Anyways with Adam being from Cleveland it would be awesome if you did one out of Cleveland, OH (or general area)? It's way more centralized (a few hours from Philly, Erie, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Detroit, Cinncinati, Niagra Falls,...etc.)than Reading, PA. Plus then people could go see the city and it would give them better things to do when the show is over.
I know this move probably couldn't happen this year, but there is always next year. I sure would be cool, I could go see my family at the same time too ;)
Just ideas not demands..please dont take it wrong.

Thanks for the input. Personally I would like to see us move to Philly. I'm talking the city of Philly, nothing more nothing less. We've built up a pretty comfortable fanbase in the PA area. I don't think it's wise for us to have dramatic changes of locations esp. considering we're only in our 2nd year.

I believe initially I was speaking of The Works. Their idea of classic gaming is a Class of '81 machine. Now, if you want a traditional arcade with a nice selection of newer games as well, you'll wanna check out Challenge Arcade in the Berkshire Mall. Joe over at CA is working on having a website designed, for now Dragon's Lair Project has a copy of his press release and some photos of the original arcade layout - http://www.dragons-lair-project.com/community/misc/pressrelease/challenge.asp
Joe fully supports ECGE and ECGE fully supports Joe and Challenge Arcade.

Magnet pinball? You mean Orbitor-1? I'm not sure if that's magnets or not. I asked Joe, the owner of the arcade, about it and he said it's all just tracks built into the playfield. It is a hell of a good pinball machine tho'. Since Joe introduced me to it I sink a few bucks into it every time I'm in there. 8*)
