That is fine for them but what about people that both don't have a PC fast enough to run this game and their only console from this generation is the GameCube

I know! And what about those of us that only have Ataris!??!?!?!? I'm going to go right now and create one of those online petitions to get it made for 8 bit systems too! Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaagnabbit! If I don't own the system they're making the game for then they ought to provide me with one, this is America you know!!!!!

I'll be all over the xbox version.
Finally, FINALLY i can play San Andreas to a decent soundtrack, instead of rap/"hip hop"/a bunch of urban noise. There's nothing i hate more than Urban Noise/ghetto pop/Rap type stuff. NOTHING. I would rather listen to country music. And to justify that:
Country music annoys me. GREATLY.
1 Night a week, a manager works who holds right to keep her country station on.
1 night a week, a manager works who keeps "kiss FM" on, which is the local top forty/hip hop/rap crap station.
I dread rap night far worse than country night. I'd suffer three additional nights of country just to get rid of that one rap night.
Argh.
Helloooooooo, san andreas to Led Zeppelin.

Ah yes can't have a san andreas post without kamino spoutin hate on hip-hop. But I digress....(just teasin, but seriously lay off the hatin)
Now I can give my copy to my nephew for Christmas, had only played a few missions on it to begin with. I love the game, but the load times were horrible. Keeping my guide though:)

I bought the ps2 version because I wanted to play it instead of waiting. It's a great game and so massive that it's mind blowing. I might try out the pc version once it comes out for the mouse control and customizeable music.

THANK GOD!
My patience will be rewarded! I KNEW Rockstar would make a Xbox and PC port of this game and now I can buy the superior XBox version when it comes out!
Now I just need them to announce MGS 3 for the XBox and I'll be all set...... :D

I'll be playing it next December, when it's $20 or less (much like Vice City is right now).

Well, as both GTA3 and Vice City were released for PC and Xbox it's not a huge surprise that San Andreas is released for these systems. I just hope that there will be Xbox Live support for San Andreas, online multiplayer GTA seems like a lot of fun.

Hehehehe... as sad as it seems, this is basically the reason why I'm holding out for an XBOX release. From what I've seen of the soundtrack, I could probably just cruise by blaring Radio X all the time, but speeding at 115 miles per hour while my speakers scream with bitchingly hard Fear Factory music... awwwwwwww man, that would be sweet. :D
Just another six more months... what I'm getting for Christmas should hold me over until then.

Maybe something's wrong with your PS2... the only time the game really loads is in the beginning, and that time is faster than GTA3 or VC.

I've played about 10 minutes of it on the ole PS2, at which point I almost vomited from the atrocious frame-rate and pop-up. Joe, how can you tolerate it?!?!?! Then again, Simpson's Road Rage for XBOX did the same thing to me.
So, yeah, June 7th will be the first time I really play the game.

So does that mean the deal with Rockstar and sony will be coming to an end, or just the exclusive (GTA) deal sony and RS have?

Not really.
Not at all, Soulblazer. At least not from this couch.
Xbox drawbacks:
1) Controller. the ps2 controller "fits". It has the right, sensible feel. 2 sets of push button triggers. good button placement. the xbox controller has those evil triggers. I get so pissed at those triggers; instead of rapid-firing on them, i have to completely release, and then press again........how the hell am I supposed to rapid-fire on that shit?!?! Also, the vibration, while a cheap gimmick, just feels that much cheaper on xbox.
2) The sound. I have done sidebysides on splinter cell, gta3, and vice city. Meaning i have both the ps2 and xbox versions of those games. On all above listed, the sound is all crapped up on the xbox. For a more detailed reasoning; in vice city, the balance is not correct no matter how i set it. I either hear mostly engine noise, or mostly soundtrack. it's frickin impossible, it seems , to get a setting where i can hear tommy vercetti's comments. Also, the soundtrack of VC just, doesn't SOUND the same on the xbox to me. Hard to explain that one.........
Load times really don't bother me.
Graphics could not mean LESS to me. Not a damn bit less. Cripes, not even 2600/vcs graphics bother me. DOA Xtreme beach volleyball is a prime example of what happens when grap hical shine takes precedence over gameplay.
To each his own, but to me, the xbox is an INFERIOR machine. I bought medal of honour: rising sun and frontline, True Crime, Max payne 1 and 2, manhunt.....the list goes on...on ps2 instead of xbox. deliberately.
To you? Xbox is superior. Go you! You have every right to stand by that statement. But that does NOT mean it is to everyone. Let people see what they want to see, man.....

ugh, the GTA Double pack is the worst. The Higher-Resolution graphics just made the allready horrible graphics look worse. Vice City especially was Blurry as hell. Cool everyone can play it now (...June) but Rockstar needs to start going multiplatform from the get-go now that the Sony agreement is fading.

He was referring to the port of MGS 2 on the Xbox. On the very first part of the ship the game lags something awful on the xbox. Konami should have tried just a little harder on that port.

Funny, I did'nt notice that. :hmm:
I just prefer the XBox version of any game if I have a choice. Best graphics and sound (especily on my 32 inch widescreen HDTV and 5.1 speaker system all with component cables), no hassle with memory cards, fast loading, better drive (Samsung in mine), and Xbox Live. The only thing the PS2 has going for it is the better controller. I admit the XBox controller is my least favorite of the three, but it's really not bad and is actually confertable once you get used to it.
ANYWAY, so as not to get off topic, all of those reasons PLUS the great job that Rockstar did with the XBox versions of GTA 3 and VC is why I decided to wait for the hope of a SA port. Now I just need MGS 3 and I'm set. :D

I'd imagine it was, i rather enjoyed GTA III and Vice city was alright.
I didn't mean to bash ps2 with that post *specifically*, heh. I just prefer to play PC, even if the game already has nigh-infinate replay, throwing in the Mach 5, a Kamen Rider skin, custom sounds, and a garage editor trainer later on makes it even better. :rocker:

I wonder. Will it come out at a lower price I assume? I would guess if they did what they did with the first two, when they port it, they'll port it at the same time as they lower the price for the PS2 version. I can see that.
Glad I finally have a date to say as well.

The reason that III and Vice City came to xbox was because of the contract saying they could not sell a single GTA game on another console. They got around that by selling III and Vice City in a bundle. What will they package with San Andreas?

Well, the Xbox and PC versions will be released tormorrow. Who's planning to get it this week?
Also, feel free to check out the "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Tips and Tricks (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=46075)" thread. There's a lot of good stuff in there, and nothing requires a code.

Just a heads-up:
I just found out on CheapAssGamer that the Xbox and PC versions of GTA: SA will be on sale at CompUSA for $29.99 from June 12th through the 18th. Great deal for anyone who has been waiting for those versions.

I traded in the PS2 version (got a whole $10) and got the Xbox version.
The graphics are a lot cleaner (very little in the way of trails/fog effects like on the PS2) and the "radio" feature (randomly plays the music you have stored along with commericals) is pretty cool.
There are some extra shows on the talk radio station, and there is more DJ chatter on the other radio stations.
I still don't like the control as much as the PS2 versions, especially for drive-bys.
Overall, I'm happy I got it. I played through the PS2 version twice, and I'll play this once through at least once or twice.
Oh, and the load times are about the same, but like on the Xbox version of Vice City, there is a slight pause when you bring up the map, but there aren't any framerate issues (at least that I've seen).
