I have an Atari 7800 that worked perfectly when I bought it. I put it in the box and haven't done anything with it since then. I took it out about a month ago to get it working and the damn thing won't play 7800 games. It plays 2600 games just fine, but every 7800 game ends up either in black or white or with no audio. I've tried disassembling it, cleaning it, replacing the cables, and more with no luck. Pisses me the hell off cause I really don't want to buy another 7800.

...NES. It rarely works, but thats a problem with all NES's I suppose. TMNT 3 is the only game that I can load up anymore.

recently my sega saturn seems to keep being picky about playing my metal slug, it will get to level 2 or 3 and then start becoming glitchy... ive owned the metal slug, and the the console since they were both brand new back in 1998, and they are both still mint... any help would be appreciated because i am baffled and it makes me want to cry that either A. my metal slug is messed up, or B. my console is beginning to mess up. :(

Oh...
My SEGA Saturn (model 2) has a System Memory Problem. Keep changeing the battery with no result. Won't recognize the Cartridge port either. I can't even play Nights, Resident Evil, Scud, Tomb Raider, Virtual On... all because System Memory. Pisses me off!

PS2 - It hates Blue Disk games (of course)
Import PSX - Fails to load games 50% of the time.
My poor baby Import Saturn - Takes many tries for the game to load (and some will never load ie. Virtua Cop 2).
Sega CD (Model 2) - Makes funny noise, put circular scratches on Vay and Popful Mail.
All my other systems work great though.

Hey to fix your Sega CD. Open it up, and find were the little rubber springs are and put a couple of washers under em. That should raise your cd unit so you wont have any more circular scratches.

Notice many of the console problems have to due with not reading cd's, glitching on read, or mechanical failure of the cd-rom unit of the console? This is why I still hate cd media. If it's not the mechanical cd mechanism that dies, it's bitrot of the cd itself. Both of which have happened to me in a relatively short amount of time (6 years) on a few cd based consoles and pc cd-rom based games. On the other hand, I have Atari 2600 carts that are 25 years old and play perfectly. Let us go back to the cart!!

New pins is a temporary fix, but toploaders (rare) are pretty stable.
As far as my nusance...it's my PS2, dust collects inside very easily and causes alot of disc read errors, but that's more of a home dust problem than a console problem. The NES annoys me with the pin issues, but emulators help allievate that stress. @_@

if my metal slug cd has bit rot.... which seems to be a possiblilty because the disc is almost perfect after all these years, i think i will kill someone. Then i will say screw it all and most likely save forever and buy a MVS to AES conversion of it and play it the way it should be played, in my neo.

I've got a Dreamcast which, every now and then, just up and stops spinning/reading the discs. If I open up the case and re-seat the whole laser assemby this usually takes care of it. It will then work fine for a few weeks or longer (depending on usage) before crapping out again.
I've also got an Intellivision I with some really effed uo controllers. Can't fix `em to save my life.
Lastly, I'm lucky enough to own 2 Virtual Boys but neither have stands. Sooner or later I'll have to whip something up in that regard.

If other titles you have for the system play ok, this may be the issue with your MS cd. If you do go cart, I would advise the MVS version...unless you have $1k+ that is to buy the AES version.
I heard awhile back that there was a relatively inexpensive MVS-AES adapter out there. Or you can get the MVS cart professionally converted, but this will be much more. I had a MVS Puzzle Bobble converted years ago and that conversion ran me $200...and that was not including the price of the MVS cart.

like i said, id go with a conversion cart, cuz id much rather play it on my modded neo than my unmodded MVS.

For some reason my Xbox refuses to play NCAA Football 2005 half the time. I get a 'this is not a Xbox game' message. :hmm: No clue why, the Xbox is perfect with every other game and has a Samsung drive and I bought the game new.

My Dreamcast will reset itself occasionally during the middle of a game (I need to get a new power supply for it).
I have adjusted the laser on my PS2 twice now due to the dreaded Disc Read Error. It's working fine at the moment. :/

My super nintendo. It is the most troublesome of any console I have EVER fucking owned. It will just randomly not like a cart at all. I'll try cleaning it, wiggling the cart a bit, blowing on it, then after 30 tries I'll wait a few seconds, pop it in one more time......PERFECT. I've wanted to smash the thing so many times. My toaster NES plays perfectly and loads almost any game first try but this thing is a trial in annoyance.

My japanese Turbo Duo gave me alot of grief with the sound issues and then one day it just blew out, just before I got my copy of Dracula X: Rondo of Blood in the mail. Right now it's undergoing multiple surgeries.

I'm sorry, WAY off track, but Soulblazer, your black mage dances PERFECTLY to motley crue's "Girl don't go away mad" song.
Really, I mean I just sat here for the whole length of the song watchin your mage dance, and yes, I'm perfectly straight and sober.

Sometimes I'll have trouble playing a game on my Toaster NES. I'll have to pull the game out a LI'L bit to make it play properly.

i know most ppl wont agree with me, but i have to say
dont worry, your not missing much
I own a PS2 with a harddrive in it......and it's a pain in the ass having to remember to shut the harddrive down before you turn off the console. It was so much easier just to hit the toggle switch!! LOL

Maybe it's a game problem but Metal Arms: Gltich in the System keeps freezing up in the ore mine level. The game freezes or turns white. This usuall happens right before I have to save the miners behind the "yellow" shields.
