I was reading something about Mark Kart Double Dash, and the fact that you can connect from 2 to 8 GameCubes together to play this game.
Is this correct?
So, if I had 8 GameCubes, and 8 copies of Mario Kart DD and 8 Broadband Adapters and 8 ethernet cables and a switcher, then 8 people can play Mario Kart DD all at the same time, in the same race?
Has anybody tried this?
Wow, this is huge news to me. This could be a major hit at my new GameCenter.
It sucks that I'm going to need 8 BBA for each Cube just to link them, but if I can have 8 people playing Mario Kart simultaneously, each having their own screen in 480p, then I have to do it!!!!!

I'm not sure if you are able to do it with 8 players
but I'm sure with 4 players
and to be honest: IT ROCKS :D

Kirby's Air Ride and...that early snoboarding game with the numbers...can also link up, and I'd imagine there's at least a couple others that can.
might I suggest for your business model to throw in a copy of pacman versus as well (although that would require buying / securing an SP).

Though I'd go for the standard GBA, as they can be had much cheaper lately.

Yeah, but I'm thinking this place isnt' gonna exactly be well-lit...then again lighting helps spot theft and whatnot. I must be used to arcades.

Yep it's possible. I've been part of a 7 Cube, 14 player experience over the LAN for MKDD last year just after the game came out. We had the Cubes, we had the broadband adapters, we had enough copies of the game (though some of the NTSC Cubes needed Freeloader as we only have enough copies of the PAL version to go around) and enough pads, so we decided to go it at one games meet!

it was set up by nintendo at the who are you mall tour.
i got 1st 3 times so i got a mario golf necklace, wrist band, and a mini mario kart rc car
lots of fun and that wheel set up is excellent for the game

Im pretty sure it actually is only the three previously mentioned games that can link up. Ive linked Mario Kart before, but only once with 2 Gamecubes. I know Nintendo doesnt think that online games are a good idea and whatnot, but I dont see why they dont just add the option of linking to their multiplayer games. Does it really cost that much to develop? Also, they should make the interface for linking Gamecubes better. For Mario kart I remember that you had to go to a screen with a countdown and wait for it to detect another gamecube. It should be like Halo where you can set up a link game and simply wait for someone else to join it, or go to a screen where you can see any available games.

I've linked all eight together, and I'm doing it again tonight... sixteen people will enter, fifteen will leave... then, a few hours later, the last one will, having beeing left the responsibility of cleaning up.
