I purchased this game a few weeks ago for holiday video game reviewable purposes and i was wondering if i should just return it or keep it because it might become a future rarity.

Any idea's? The game is awful by the way.

The only good thing one can say about Elf is at least they didn't release it weeks before the actual movie came out (Looks in Disney's direction)

Based on the number of copies I've seen at reatil, I don't see this becoming scarce. One Sears by me had 36 copies in thier showcase last weekend and a number of other stores have it in stock in good numbers (4-12 pieces on average)

As for the timing of the release, it coincided with the release of the DVD and it's not the first time I've seen movie based games released with DVD/Video releases instead of theatrical releases.

I've just become sick of seeing merchandise on toy shelves for movies that won't be out for months (Spiderman 2, The Incredibles, Generic Action Title, etc). I realize that merchandising makes up a big chunk of movie profits these days, but could they at least be released the day OF the movie's release?

Yes and yes. My girlfriend watches it all the time, it's not the funniest but overall I liked it.

I had actually misread your original post and interpreted as a complaint about how late the game came out in relation to the movie. I'm mixed on movie related toys though, since I sell a lot of action figures in addition to video game and Spider-Man stuff has been doing very well for me for the last few years. The ironic part is the movie tie-in figures sell a small fraction of the non-tie-in figures that come out. And you think it's bad that the toys are out before the movie, think about what it's like to have to place orders for product up to six months before the movie comes out. I'm never going to get rid of the Van Helsing crap I have.

i dont know why people keep asking this...

everyone is so aware of 'rarity' these days... the only titles that are going to be scarce in the future are either ones that fly under our radar- or ones that backstock gets destroyed.

Thanks for the imput fellas!

I purchased this from EB Games, do they give you in-store credit or cash upon returning items?

They give cash back if it's unopened. I haven't tried returning opened games there since they changed their policies, but good luck.

Since it's opened and there's nothing physically wrong with the game the best you can get is a trade in. So you can get cash from non mall stores I believe but it will be less then what you'd normally get in store credit.
