Hi, I have basically finished my DC collection, all games, systems, strategy guides, sega brand accessories etc. So now I've got to make a decision, what system comes next? Here are the finalist:
Sega Saturn - Next in line after dreamcast right?
Sega CD - Console that looks very intresting to me...
Nintendo 64 - Has alot of pretty good games that I like (mainly mario games)
I also am going to collect 32X games for sure but i don't anticipate that taking to much time or effort, I will do that as a secondary collection.
I'm not looking for a collection that is going to take me forever to complete. I did the Dreamcast more or less in about a year... Could you please tell me if I should expect those above systems to be easier or harder and also your imput on which would be the most fun.

32x from what i hear can be realatively challenging.
I would go for N64 cardboard boxes are only going to get harder to find in good condition, and it has a managable library.
Only what 50ish more games than DC?

N64 sounds pretty easy. Go with that.

I would say the saturn seems interesting.... I don't have one yet. But since you just finished one Sega system, you might want to try the N64 for a change of pace.

I have a complete and boxed 32X collection, and I will tell you now, it is not as easy as you think. Web of Fire is gonna set you back, as well as FINDING some others. For a complete set boxed, WAY WAY TOUGHER. I would go for the N64. I am nearing a complete collection, only 40 or more games for my set. The boxes are getting tougher to find too.

I agree its not that old right now and it will only get harder to collect for in the future. A good balance of quality games and crappy games.
Hey, can you post some pictures of your DC collection. I love the DC and I love collection photos.

I'd go for the Saturn, but only because I think it has a much better selection of games than the N64 or Sega CD.

I am currently working on N64. Not too bad as far as prices go on the more common games. You can pick up a few lots to get you started for rather cheap. Doing this I managed to get 92 games since Dec 12th (this year). 99 total with duplicates.
And a bunch of loose carts that are more popular.
From what I understand there are 297 total US games. The more expensive titles are Mario games of any kind.
That reminds me.. I have to update my list!

I would go for N64. It has the best 3D games ever IMO and most games are easy to find. There are also lots of colour variations with the carts/consoles/controllers and there's the Pokemon console, to collect as well.

n64... but go for complete/mint games. that should make it fun. there are some tough ones to find complete (clay fighter scupltors cut, stunt racer, ISS2000, etc..) and the games are pretty damn fun. I just sold one and i got caught up testing/playing it for hours.
a good system and cheap too :)

if you just want to collect to get a bunch of games i would go 64, if you want to play the games Saturn for sure (best 2D games ever if you count imports)

Go for the one that has games you know you enjoy, games you haven't tried but want to, games that look interesting. There's more to life than completing a set. Or if that's all you want to do, then go game.com or 7800.

I agree, the N64 is a good choice.
I have been collecting PAL games for about 2 years and there are some great games on it. It's getting harder to find mint condition games now because of the fragile cardboard boxes.

Nintendo 64. At the moment not many people seem to collect for it, and you can still find the games often complete pretty easily. Who knows, maybe a few more years it will be very hard to collect complete games for it.

Saturn. Good variety of common and rare, should keep you occupied for awhile; good games too.

I'd start N64 before even thinking about Saturn since
1: N64 has different types of games that Saturn and Dreamcast libraries don't have. Many Saturn games are prequals and tone down versions of current DC games, such as Daytona, Sega Rally, VF, Virtual On, Sonic, thus more varieties.
2: If you're picky about conditions of games, especially if you want all the games in library, cartridge games tend to be much more durable so it's much easier for you to find a copy in at least satisfacotry conditions.
3: Many would disagree with me on this, but Saturn has higher proportion of garbage games in library (OK, not as bad as Jaguar).
I'd not even bother with 32X unless you want US colleciton and can get them cheaply, if you try to get PAL collection, good luck finding Darxide complete.

crazy to see a Neo Geo fan prefer N64 over the Saturn

There was this Flash advertisement for The Simpsons airing on Fox where you could control Bart on his skateboard as a car tried to chase him. You got points for collecting Squishees on the road, and were slowed down by traffic cones and water puddles. You could literally just pick a spot and hold the down arrow, and Bart would never be slowed down enough to die. I balanced a beer bottle or something on the key, left for six hours, and came back to find the game running at about one frame per six seconds, due to having about a million Squishees and traffic cones spawned on the screen at the same time. I ended up having to turn my computer on and off, as it crashed.
You need that game too, or else your PC collection is incomplete.

And in all seriousness, if someone were collecting PC games, I would count Johnny Castaway. It was sold in a box, right?

Mike1988_11,
I would think that you could easily collect Saturn and N64 games at the same time. Both are still very affordable (hardware and software) and each one has some very enjoyable games to keep you happy while you collect. Of course there are a handfull of higher priced games for each but even those aren't going to send you to debter's prison. :D

I think I am going to start with both and then just decide whats most fun. I will be getting a good chunk of each this week and then I will decide what to keep and what to sell.

My point is, if you already have all DC games, you should go to N64 for variety, nonetheless, the most sensible way to go, IMHO, is to get the best games on both systems, which I plan to do myself (I'm done with Dreamcast). There're a few Saturn games which are not available on DC, like Dragon Force, Panzer Dragoon, etc.
