View Full Version : HELP!! CONVERTING a ARCADE CONTROLLER TO PS2 CONTROLLER..

i got some spare arcade panel controller(8way/6button) taken strait off the cab :hmm: ... ... iam thinking about making them into ps2 fighter controller's
is/will the PS2 controller have enough power(arcade controller was attach to the jamma befor) to run the arcade controller ?? any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated !! :hail: thanks

You could wire it up directly to the gust of a PS2 controller (or cheap PS2 stick- as that would be easier) and then the controller still does all the electronic work, but you control the arcade bits.

Think of it as a homemade adapter.

sorry can you give me some picture/instruction's /lay out's..i look @ the inside of the ps2/and the soulcaliber stick they both look x_x .. .. i don't know which jamma wire goe's with each of the ps2 button's

If you're doing what I *think* you're doing, then the buttons/joysticks will just act as a bridge to connect the circuit. You're using the power right from the console to power the joypad PCB.

the stupid ps2 controller can't be solder !! the green plastic melted !! :angry: ... so i'll try it on the damn pin's(1-19) now...can some one show me how are the pin's layed out(schematic's)??

the arcade buttons dont require any extra power since they are normal close / open circuit breakers.

and inorder to attach an arcade controler to your ps2 you need to do 1 of 2
either build you own interface to the ps2 or gut a controller for one.
in either case it requires soldering skills and some skills in trace locating.

the green protective film on the ps2 controller pcb can easyly be scraped off using a shart razorblade by bulling ut in the opperset of cutting direction.
or simply use a carbonfiber pen (they are made for this purpose)

All you'd need to do, like MrKitt said, would be to solder it to the "guts" of a regular sony pad. PREFERABLY a 3rd party one. Here are some tutorials for ya:
