I don't know who my SS was as the shipping package was ripped off my hands before I could read the sender.

The content was handed to me yesterday evening and it was a shrinkwrapped US Gradius V! Along with the PAL one I received too, his makes my Gradius V collection complete! :D

I wanna thank my Santa, let me know who you are. :)

You're welcome Qixmaster, I'm glad you liked it.
I had fun searching the stuff on your list as it's not the stuff I'm usually after. I didn't want to go eBaying and I didn't have to as I found it all within driving distance. BTW, the thanks for the wrapping goes to my little cousins, they're very sweet kids during Christmas time at least. :)

Mad Props to Gamer Gary!

I got:

2 famicom to NES converters!!
1 Stellar Track cart - 2600
1 Beats of Rage Disc for Dreamcast
1 Weird, NJ magazine! (Weird!)
1 Crazy, Sadistic comic book
1 Mint Front Mission 4 PS2 Demo
1 Gamecube Promo DVD
1 GB SP promo flyer
1 Ngage flyer

WOW! Now for questions!

Okay, I did some research and I still have NO IDEA what exactly these things are on the DC beats of rage disc?????? DO I need a bootdisk to load them?? hmm......

NES to famicom converters: Can you use ANY famicom cart on a regular NES with these? Explain!

Note on Stellar Track, I have never heard of this until today and I have a pretty extensive 2600 collection

Merry Christmas and thanks Gamer Gary!!!

Glad you liked your gift. The dc game is a 5 in 1 beat 'em up collection that is based on the beats of rage engine which is based off of Streets of Rage. For the dc game I tried to find you a boot disc but I threw all mine away and I couldn't find the Utopia download to make one for you. If you have a DC made before October 2001 then it can play cd-rs. The famicom-nes convertors will play whatever famicom cart fits in the convertors.

I got a great gift from my SS: DOWNFALL

Both issues of Manci Games (gonna be a fun read)

3 INTV games:
Star Strike sealed
Night Stalker sealed
bomb squard minty
I've got them, but they're all nice condition upgrades for me.
Bomb squad is one of my fave INTV games!

and the creme-de-la-creme
complete Mario's Picross for SFC!

I kinda knew it was you, though...
After the thread about puzzle games, I rushed over to ebay to see if any were being sold. Sure enough, there WAS one, but some buddy named FeeltheDownfall had bought it ;)
after that, i was crossing my fingers and hoping it was heading my way.
you really topped my expectations with that.
Thank you so very much!

ps. I do have a modded SNES, so no problems there ;)

Heh.. I was talking to bigdaddychester about what I was getting for you, and he said "I bet she will end up on ebay and see that you bought that one." LOL As soon as I saw you post about that, I had to try and snag you a copy - I guess I lucked out as far as timing goes, as that was the only copy that had been on ebay for quite some time. ;) :D

Anyway, I did figure out how to erase games - highlight the game file and hold select and then hit A+B. It should give you the option to erase - it also works on Mario's Picross on GB. Also, if you have one, the SNES mouse (Mario Paint) works with Super Picross as well. A neat feature if you ask me.

Sorry you had the INTV games already - like I said, those are a bear to find around here. At least the Bomb Squad looks brand new!

Anyway, glad you liked it - and I hope you have a blast with the Picross game!

Mine was Funk Buddy, and man, he sent some cool stuff. Lots of really good wrapping jobs, too-my ma remarked it must've been a woman LOL

Halo Soundtrack
AV cord with connectors for Cube, PS, and Xbox
2 copies of Contra for NES
Mega Man action figure
Cleaning supplies
the Nincyclopedia
Game Hunter for PSX
a gamestop gift card for 10 bucks
Some reese's pieces and a payday, which happens to be one of my favorite candy bars
and a Mario Kart toy from Wendys. This was totally awesome, because it was one of the two that I didn't get.

Thanks alot dude, I loved all the remarks you wrote in the packaging too :P

You are more than welcome and I thought the wrapping job sucked?!? The reason there are 2 Contra is I didn't have a boxed version and I could not decide which was in better shape. Maybe you can trade it for something you would like. :)

Glad you liked the stuff. I was very surprised when I found that Victory Run with the box. I never see turbo games with the box.

I'm still trying to figure out who my Secret Santa was. Hopefully they will chime in soon too. This was my first time doing the SS thing here at DP and I'll be doing it again next year for sure. Thanks POG (you don't mind being called a round piece of cardboard do you :) )

I'm a bit slow on my reply to the thread as I drank myself into stupidity last night! :) Anyhow, my secret santa was norkusa.

He sent me a boxed complete Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga for the GBA, and a VCD of "Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas Special"! When I initially entered the SS this year, I had no game systems at all and pretty much left Jaime a want list of "Anything is fine". Shortly after I entered I purchased a Nintendo DS, and my SS must have been watching my posts regarding my purchase of the console and in turn sent me something I can use. Very thoughtful!

Thank you for the great stuff Tony, and thank you Jaime for another wonderful DP Christmas :) Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

And the US games that I saw on the list were just as hard for me to find since the DC has been an impossibility for me to get in the BayArea for a while. :D So I figgured why not go with some MegaDrivey goodness. Your very welcome!

Your welcome Zektor. I just wish I could have given you more. Since you said you didn't have any systems, I was really having a hard time on deciding what to get you. I saw you mentioned in some recent posts that you got a DS, so I dipped into my small GBA collection and sent something I thought you'd like. I hope you enjoy it. :)

And thank you Jaime for organizing the DPSS again this year!

You are the man.. that's all I got to say. And yes it was alot, but I figured you were like me and had most of that stuff around the house too:)

But I am curious. Why is it you got me my gifts but you didn't get the things I sent? Or was everyone just given a random person and not paired up? Call me confused here...

Well there was one thing and through no fault of your own, I ended up getting two of the items you sent, before I got you package. I got boktai via a trade, and buffy from a secret santa at work. But definitly a good mix. Would take photos but no digital camera:(

Daytona USA
Bottom Of The Ninth
NFL Quaterback Attack

GBA-

Boktai
Metroid Fusion

NES

Castlevania III

Sega Genesis

Izzy and the quest for the rings (sealed)

Game Gear -

Sonic 2

Super Mario Bros Band-Aid's
Final Fantasy 1 & 2 Dawn OF Souls Poster (very sweet)

If there is anything I missed I apologize. I opened half when it first got here, but saved the card and the other half for today:)

But you are a god in my book:)

But seriously I wanna know who got the stuff I sent.

I couldn't wait and opened mine the day it came..woooweee my SS hit it right on the button. I asked for a 32X as a longshot and Battle Stations for the Saturn as I have never played it and I like sea battles. My SS came thru with a glorious 32X with all the hookups. He even threw in a Geni 2 in case I didn't have one. (How cool is that?) I tried it on my CDX but no go :( (yet  ) I then grabbed my beast of a Geni 2 with the CD and dusted it off. Woohoo it workes great!! He even threw in a 32x golf game 8-)

But the fun does not stop there, oh nooo... he also threw in a C64 AD&D Dungeon Master program boxed and everything. I didn't even know these existed. (I'm more of an Ultima guy) It looks great with the other C64 boxed AD&D stuff I've picked up over the years. Does it end there tho? Nope.

He also read my mind somehow and managed to throw in a 2600 Starpath Game Escape from the Mindmaster. When I opened it I was a little bummed as I thought I had 2 copies of this already, but to my surprise it was one I didn't have. Weeeeeee. It's amazing what you forget you have in your collection sometimes. :D

Add a copy of DP #50 and yet two more programs for the C64 and a couple of funky old Commodore Word Processing manuals and you can color me one stoked DP'er.

Alas, my wife clenad and I don't know where the box is at the moment, but it contains the card whick my SS personally wrote. As soon as I find it I will thank them again personally, but for now I wish to say to my SS: Thanks for a great retro X'mas and I hope yours was as good as mine.

To all I wish to say, Best to you and yours these Holidays. The Digital Press community is the greatest.

Cheers. V

But you are a god in my book:)

But seriously I wanna know who got the stuff I sent.

I did have a lot of it laying around the house, but a few of the items I bought especially for you. I wasn't able to get my hands on a handheld system other than Game Boy that you wanted, so I sent you the Sealed Sonic 2 for Game Gear and the Sealed Wheel Of Fortune for Game.com (not listed above) so that when you do get those systems, you have a great game for them already! I hope you dig the "non-want-list" items I included, I had em laying around, and I hoped you get some more use out of em than I was.

I felt kinda bad that that your list included TONS of RPGs and Imports and I couldn't get ahold of any of them for you, I still felt like I didn't do enough, but that's how I always feel. :) I went excessive on my family as well and I wish I could have done more.

Anyways, I had a great Christmas overall myself, and I feel kinda bad for fussing about my Secret Santa ordeal. I think it just kinda irked me that Blackjax has been ignoring my PMs. Either way, it's all good, I can't wait till next years Secret Santa now! Makes me feel good that I've made someone happy.

Merry Christmas all!

I had the best Secret Santa experience I've had in the four years we've done this. My SS was AlanD, who sent this AWESOME package:

http://digitalpress.5u.com/ss2k4.jpg

I collect swag but haven't even SEEN this Nintendo hooded sweatshirt before! There are also five stickers "Nintendo: Who Are You", two brandy new PS2 games (Outlaw Golf 2 and High Rollers Casino), a Fatal Fury cap and a PS2 catalog.

Thanks again, Alan, this is GREAT stuff!

Thanks to Jaime for pulling this off once again. I don't know how you do it but everyone really appreciates it :)

Oh I loved the non game stuff. Some of those sets were hilarious like the rap superstars, and such from the old pro set company. But I definitly dug the mr. t halloween bag. Keeping that one for sure:)

Yeah I did have alot of rpg and imports on my list, but I never expect to get any of those:) I have been playing the hell out of Metroid Fusion.

This is my first year I got to do this and it was a blast, its just as fun reading what everyone else got also.

My Secret Santa was Pop Culture Portal, and he pulled out all the stops! WOW! He gave me:

--Aztec Adventure (complete) for the SMS
--Wanted (complete) for the SMS
--A hardcover C64 programmer's book
--A Pac-Man mug!!
--three CDs of C64 ROMs
--A Sega Game Gear in a carrying case with four games (Sonic 2, Zoop!, Super Columns, Taz-Mania)!!!
--A big bag of Skittles!

A huge thank you to PCP! (And to Pop Culture Portal as well!) Thanks!!

Hydrox--Glad you liked the gifts. I was happy to find those two games on your list. I feel bad about this, but I'd actually found a third that I was going to send you--but when I took it home and tested it first, it turned out not to work! I didn't want to send you a dud, and time was running out, so I only sent you those two games. If I ever see another copy of that other game, I'll snag it and send it to you in the future.

Yes, It was being handled privately, and it would have stayed that way if Mr. Blackjax actually responded to PM's like he should.

But he didn't, so I felt the need to make it public. I will edit my post if POG would like me to, but she wanted me to continue handling this on my own, and I did what I felt I should do. Be it wrong and un-"tact"-ful or justice served as fit, depending on who looks at it.

Eheh...Didn't know we were supposed to put our names with it. :) Yep, I made 'em; not too tough, and fun to make, though my seamstress skills could use some work. I'm glad you like it. :D

My package came, complete with card and wrapping, from Masco73:

-Starfox 64

-Space Station Silicon Valley

It's a game about possessing sheep and stuff in space. Is there anything cooler? (The correct answer is no. No, there is not.)

-Chu Chu Rocket

-Jet Grind Radio

-Mr. Driller for Dreamcast

-Space Channel 5 for Dreamcast (sealed, no less)

-Battletoads for NES

-Paperboy for NES

In short,

Joy! Joy! Joy!

A whole bunch of awesome games, many of which I've been wanting for a really long time. I confess, I opened it before Christmas, but I've just now gotten back to the house where ye olde retro consoles reside. I can hardly believe what a great haul I got. Masco73, thanks a ton! :D

OK I'm not too sure who my Secret Santa is because they didn't include their DP name. The gifts totally rocked. I opened them right before I took off for Grandma's house where I am now. Hopefully people will still be talking about this when I get back on the 27th so I can post a pick.

Here's what I got.

Bard's Tale (PS2) I was playing this non stop before I left.
Duel Masters (PS2) I look forward to getting into this when I get back.
Duel Masters (GBA) I took this one with me and played it the whole drive down and has helped me out with some of those waiting around for family to show up times. I'm just starting to get the hang of it and I'm having allot of fun with it.

A huge stack of PS2 Demo's :) I can't remember them all. Like I said I'll post a pick when I get home. Also some cool stickers and cards.

What I liked best about my gifts was that they were games I wouldn't normally pick up and have proved to be very fun.

Thanks Again
Secret Santa

hey dude-san LOL !

i coulda sworn i stuck a holiday card in that package with my screen name on it! if i didn't- sorry about that X_x ! anyway, glad you got th box and are enjoying the games. i generally like surprising folks with stuff they may not pick up on their own.

anyway, i had zipped on over to my brother's place for the weekend and forgot to take my ss gift (d'oh!). soooo, i'm opening it now (the envelope, please)... whee! sniperccvjvq (sp?) sent me barbarian for the ps2 (for some reason, i hadn't been able to find one of those around here, so that was a neat surprise)- thanks, sniper!

He also read my mind somehow and managed to throw in a 2600 Starpath Game Escape from the Mindmaster.
Nope, not your mind. Just a post on Atari Age where you listed all your Starpath games (it was a while ago, but I took a chance anyway as I had an extra one of those). Glad you like your gifts!

I have an annoying habit of trying to guess what presents are before I open them. As I mentioned before, my wife opened the package from my S.S. and saw that each present had been individually wrapped so she placed them under the tree for me. I guessed that I had 2 Virtual Boy games, 2 Turbografx-16 games, 1 Sega CD game, 1 Genesis game and a book or manual of some sort. There was also a mystery item that I could not figure out. It seemed to be a piece of clothing, but it was too small even for a T-shirt. I actually joked with Beth that it must be a Pac-Man bib!

On Christmas Day, the mystery gift was the first thing I opened and it turned out to be the best gift I got this year. It was a DP “Future Member” T-shirt for my son! It’s too big for him now, but I will be sure to share pictures with everyone when he grows into it. The rest of my S.S. gifts were:

Dreamcast - Giga Wing (sealed)
Genesis - Super Street Fighter II (loose)
Saturn - Grid Runner (complete)
TG-16 – Takin’ It to the Hoop (w/ jewel case and manual)
Virtual Boy - Red Alarm (loose)
Virtual Boy – Teleroboxer (loose)
and the book “Mastering Pac-Man”

Thank you SO much! Please let me know who you are. :D

I don't know who my santa was. Anyway, he/she hooked me up with a brand new copy of Panzer Dragoon Orta for the xbox. Thank you whoever you are. I'm sure it will keep me busy for a while.

Thanks also to POG for her time in setting all this up!!

Happy Holidays!! :D

Sorry for posting a little late. It's been a completely crazy holiday (as it always is... starts on the 23rd and I finally get a little time again on the 27th...)

Anywho:

Soulblazer, glad you liked everything! It was fun to put that all together. I went through a lot of your old posts to try to come up with some nifty "bonuses" to give you, so I do hope that you enjoy them :)

As for my stuff from blissfulnoise...

I opened my present back at the beginning of December when I received it because I had a very open list (I had named some specific titles, but for Xbox I put down, "Anything I don't have") and I could tell I had got some sort of Xbox game in it. To make sure I didn't re-receive the same game in asking for it, open the package went...

I got two Xbox games -- a new copy of Siberia, which looks very interesting. I have purposely put off playing it until after the holidays though, so I would still have some anticipation. I'm hoping to get a few hours to check it out soon. It seems to be fascinating.

And Kabuki Warriors, which was to show me the "other" side of fighting games because...

The third thing was the one gift that I was totally not expecting anyone to get me. For the past year or so, I have only needed one game to complete my US Dreamcast collection -- Street Fighter III: Third Strike. I've been holding off getting it because I wanted it to be minty, and I don't trust eBay unless they are new, but I won't pay the going eBay rate for it new...

blissfulnoise sent me SF3:TS! In great shape! My US Dreamcast collection is DONE! I can't tell you how happy this made me, and on Christmas day I did take the game out of the envelope where I was keeping everything and I put it on the shelf with all the others. It's totally awesome.

Thank you so much! This was really fun, and I will definitely participate again next year!

My SS was Kepone and he sent me a PS2 Intellivision Lives game. Worked out really nice since it was one I had seen available a few times since sending out the SS info and held off on since it was something my SS might get :) Thanks Kepone. I really appreciate it.

Hey, Cmosfm is a great guy, and is understandably upset for getting shafted when everyone else is recieving some awesome packages. It isn't selfish to at least expect somebody put some care into your gift rather than sending out whatever they have on hand, and it isn't tact to call that person out for such an act. It ruins the spirit of things when somebody participates halfheartedly and presumably selfishly. If blackjax was running low on funds then he shouldn't of participated.

And c'mon, Bubblegum Crisis on Vhs? That's low dude.

Kier, I should have known such a cool present would have come from a fellow member of the Epyx tribe. 8-) Your memory of past posts on other boards astounds me. I know I'm gettting old when I can't even remember what I have in my collection anymore. LOL

On an Epyx note; I snagged a copy of Sword of Fargoal a couple of weeks ago. I forgot how much of a blast that game was. Now if I can just find copies of Rogue and Hellfire Warrior out there somehwere LOL

Thanks again Kier, you rocketh!!! 8-)

My SS, vespertillio, had probably one of the hardest wish lists to work with. I am amazed that even with such a vague list, he was still able to pull off a great gift. Unfortunately I left the house this morning without my list of goodies that were sent so I'll try to do it from memory....feel free to jump in and clear it up for me.

The first couple items, I'm not to sure about. They appear to be some accessories for a handheld (game boy or game gear) one looks like a a magnifier/light that sits on top of the display. The other looks to be like an external battery, that you can carry in a backpack or wear on your belt, for a game gear or possibly a Nomad. Like I said, I've never seen either item before so I'm not positive.

next on the list are a couple genesis games, I think one of them is street fighter 3 and I cant remember the other one (I need my list bad) but I know I didn't have either of these games so that's even better! :rocker:

last but certainly not least..... a host of games for my dreamcast including a few emulators which was a pleasant surprise. Until now, I've not owned any US releases just a stack of Japanese titles. So now it's a blast to be able to play a game and not have to fumble through some japanese (although that's an adventure in itself :D)

Thanks again to my SS, Vespertillio. You did great!!!

@ gapporin

I'm glad you liked everything, especially the applebutter. I just thought for sure you'd figure out who your SS was by the many times I hit your collection list. I saw a post later about you needing an SNES, if you still need it shoot me a PM I may have another lying around somewhere.

I also want to thank everyone who paricipated this year, it sounds like almost everyone did their best to "spread a little love".

and especially POG, again you have coordinated another great secret santa program. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

It isn't selfish to at least expect somebody put some care into your gift rather than sending out whatever they have on hand.

The original idea was for people to send stuff out of their tradebox. Now drop it.

Who is John Southern? I'm still trying to figure out who my SS was so I can thank him properly!
