View Full Version : "Is it evil?"

I was in Toys R Us the other day, looking at some GBA games. There was a kid and his (I'm assuming) grandparents picking out what he wanted for Xmas. Anyway, he had picked Mario Pinball when something else caught his eye and he asked if he could get that instead.
"I don't know," the grandmother said, "Let me see if it's evil."

I had to quickly slam my hand over my mouth and quickly turn away to stifle the laughter.

At first I'd thought maybe she thought it was a game featuring satanic worship or the occult or perhaps even Elmo. But a couple seconds later I realized she was just checking the rating to make sure it was suitable for this little kid.

I'm glad to see adults starting to pay attention to the ratings system... but man. "Let me see if it's evil." That's just funny. LOL

"Let me see if it's evil."

It is! Don't touch it, for it is a blasphemies game, and will consume your soul!! LOL

But seriously, I to have seen parents and their kids going at it over games. Well it's good in a way I guess, atleast they bother looking at the rating content in the game.

What we need here, clearly, is a simple, objective and quantifiable test for how evil a given game is.

Does it float like a duck?

It it made of wood?

BURN IT!!!! :D

Should we try to build a bridge out of it?

Elmo's Letter Hunt and Elmo's Number Journey for the N64 are rated EC. The ESRB censors must have been drinking, because the games would clearly deserve an AO. And something must have slipped past Nintendo with them having all those Sesame Street games...

Wow. That's a classic line! Woulda been great if grandma picked up Shin Megami Tenseni Nocturne or Shadow Hearts Covenant.

In Egypt, the pharoahs used to weigh the hearts of humans against feathers, to see whether the person would have a good afterlife. If it weighed more, then dogs were allowed to eat it. Now, in Egypt, they wieth their games against feathers to see whether they are safe for the youth to eat.

Ok, it seemed funnier when I started typing...

I think it was a case of mischosen words. I might sometimes say "That game is so gay" but doesn't actually mean the game has homosexual content in it (Unless it's Duke Nukem - He is SO gay I swear!)

My mates all know what I mean when I say that, but some people may take that phrase literally!

Maybe this woman just chose the word "Evil" instead of "Suitable". She may have been just checking to see if the content was "Suitable" for the kid's age - Ie, I certainly wouldn't reckomend Metroid Fusion to a child as it scared the crap out of me in parts!!!

Now technically, if it was Goldeneye: Rogue Agent on the PS2 - It is indeed "Evil"! As you are in fact on the dark side.

Same with Resi - The clue is in the title!

haha, only in a place like this will the majority get that reference.

But really, I don't care what she said, she was being a responisble guardian. I'd much rather see a 70 year old lady wondering if Mario Pinball is evil than some other parent blindly buy a handful of copies of San Andreas for their 6, 8, 10, and 13 year olds.

One cool thing about that movie is that a lot of those guys are in Star Wars, but you never get to see their faces. The smallest Time Bandit is played by Kenny Baker, who also played R2-D2. Malcom Dixon was also an Ewok, Mike Edmonds was the guy who sat inside Jabba the Hutt and worked the tail section, and Jack Purvis was both the Chief Jawa and the Chief Ugnaught. A lot of those guys were in Willow and Labyrinth as well.

[/little people trivia]

And then of course there's David (The Omen/TRON/Time After Time/Waxwork) Warner.

Don't forget Quest Of The Delta Knights, either.

yup and Warwick Davis (The Leprechaun and Willow) was Wicket the Ewok, he was only 8 years old back then during the filiming of ROTJ...then notice his cameos in Episode I and II as well
