I ran across a Neo Geo Pocket Color today and didn't buy it but I'm tempted to go back after xmas and pick it up if it's still there. It was $25 and was the carbon fiber pint/skin/color. The screen was a little scratched but not bad.

Here's the deal though, when I powered it on the screen was lit (backlit maybe?) and crystal clear. I didn't think NGP Color had a lit screen.

Can somebody shed some light on this, no pun intended.

It didnt.

Sounds like someone installed an "Afterburner" type kit into it.

I think someone here at DP's forums was doing Afterburner mods to NGPC's, but this was about a year ago, so I can't confirm it without a search, and frankly, I'm too lazy. For $25, I'd pick it up if it was backlit, since doing something like that yourself would be prohibitively complicated (to my stupid ass) or a lot more expensive. On the other hand, the screen on the NGPC is great even not backlit, so it may have fooled you after a few rounds with the original GBA. Regular non-backlit units can be had on the cheap these days (last one I picked up was $10 for a MIB Camo Blue Japanese one).

I did a few of them...

And they are front-lit not back-lit... :P

But for $25 I'll take it if you would get it for me...
I sold all of mine and I'm to lazy to make more right now... :)

Well I went back and bought it and a Sonic game for $33.

Unfortunately its not a lighted NGPC. :embarrassed:
It must have been the lighting in that place that made it look so vibrant. I've always wanted one so I bought it. Now I just need a couple more games for it and I'll be a happy camper. :)

sounds like it did. Anyway enjoy a great little system. Pick up Metal Slug 1st and 2nd missions and you'll be happy.

Enjoy your new "toy" :) I just started playing the ngpc again after I finished mgs 3 a couple days ago (fantastic game, kojima and crew do it again).

Check out Beast Busters '99. (I wouldn't go buy it immediately, just try it out first via emulation and see if it's for you.)

The NGPC is a great handheld, but unfortunately it's very hard to collect for it. Anyways, I hope you have fun with it.

if you have a hastings store in your town some of them sell a bundle that had the system and 6 games for 50 dollars.
