Well, another monthly Mystery Sound comes to a close and Derek Carroll is this month's Mystery Sound winner! Derek correctly identified this month's sound as coming from the arcade hit - PAPERBOY! For his efforts, Derek wins a set of diecast Donkey Kong Country cars - still in the box. Congrats Derek!

A new Mystery Sound Contest will be posted this week. Just watch this forum for an announcement. Will it be yet another "softball" sound like this month's? Or will it be a toughie like last month's? And what prize will be up for grabs? Stay tuned! :D

Yay! I got it right! I actually thought it was APB due to the level select theme, but then I realized that the main theme was from Paperboy.

What was so funny was the same night the contest was posted, I was playing Paperboy for the Commodore 64! I knew the tune, but that beginning introduction sounded unfamiliar. I Googled for "paperboy.mid" and guess what I found?

Oh man...

Out of all the times that I miss participating in the DP 'Mystery' contest, it has to be the one sound/song that I've known by heart for the past 20 years. ARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!


Dammit. I know the 'Paperboy' song by heart and even learned to play a short section of it on guitar. O_O


To this day, it's one of the more memorable songs in my mental video game music pallete.
