I just beat MGS:The Twin Snakes yesterday with the good ending and it got me wondering.

In Metal Gear Solid 2 there is no mention of Meryl even though she did survive in at one of the endings.
Otacon survives both endings.

Why would Kojima or whoever decide to kill off Meryl, Snake's only love? I know that many people would rather see Meryl then Hal "Otacon" in any more games.
I would of actually liked to seen Meryl back in MGS 2 even if it was just a little part of the story.

But, Snake and Meryl could of broke up after the events of Shadow Moses and then Otacon and him would form thier Philanthropy group to stop the production of Metal Gear's around the world.

Or, Meryl could have stayed in Alaska and Snake then went out to Big Shell and done his thing there.

If it counts, Meryl is in one of the Snake Tales featured in Substance.

But if you believe that, then you also believe that a big sea monster in the form of a guard is attacking Big Shell. :P

Check the files on shadow moses in MGS2, there is a mention of Meryl surviving. She amd Snake parted ways.

Read the extra readings in MGS2. There's a book written about Shadow Moses from Meryl. And that solves the mystery.

I thought Nastasha wrote the Shadow Moses book?

I'm not sure why Meryl was dumped out of the story so suddenly. It's mentioned that she survived, though.

I'm pretty damned positive that Meryl wrote one of the books, but Natasha might have written one as well.

Nope. One was an "official" report, the other was Nastasha's novel about what really happened.

Yep. Sons of Liberty includes numerous hints about Meryl being alive and well. Have Snake call Otacon after the first battle with Olga, or contact Snake when he's sleeping.

On a related note, I was disappointed that you couldn't play as Meryl in The Twin Snakes. Beating the game with no more than a knife and a hand-cannon Desert Eagle would have made for great bragging rights.

I remember reading something on the MGS 2 files, I read about some guy talking about being abducted though, I really didn't follow that to well :/

I really don't think that Snake and Meryl would part ways after the way they were at the end...It doesn't seem like it would happen.

I don't know how much Meryl would've wanted to be around a man in constant fear that the FOXDIE virus could kill him at any moment. You know that's gotta fuck with his head,

Speaking of Metal Gear Solid in general...found this link just a while ago. Insight into some of the stuff in Japan and elsewhere. Of course, everybody here knows about Policenauts, right? link (http://www.geocities.com/muni_shinobu/mg/mgs1_info.html)

Before Otacon's design was finalized after the image of Director Kojima, his earlier design was "a fat guy who seems to always be eating chocolate bars."

Augustus Gloop! LOL

I think I read Natasha's "novel".

The problem with MGS2 is that it had so many loose ends that needed to be tied up.

Also, the lecture about nuclear weapons actually stopped me cold in my tracks. My brother and I love the Metal Gear stories. He's better at the games but I find the stories fascinating.

Metal Gear Solid 2 was way to over the top, withl the S3 and Patriots being dead for 100 years thing.

Yeah, well, you ever had a girlfriend? They're a lot like Rose, actually.
