X-Arcade Joystick

I'm tempted to pick up the X-Arcade Joystick to use on my PS2, Dreamcast, and on my PC (for MAME). Does anyone have one of these? Is it worth the cash? Any problems with them?

Also, does the 2 player version fit in many arcade cabinets (just in case I ever put together a MAME cabinet)?

for that price you can almost buy your own arcade box! I was thinking of doing this, but after a bit of research, I came to the conclusion that my best bet is to buy an old arcade machine (with 21 -> 27" monitor) and retrofit it with some spare PC parts I have around.

Put a chair in front of it, and there is nothing that will come close to that feeling. Some people have gone as far as installing bays in arcade machines where their systems (dreamcast, PS2, etc) hookup to the monitor!

im buying the 2 player one sometime after christmas. im gonna build a stand for it and just place the stand a couple feet away from the tv, so it will almost like the arcade. hopefully they come out with saturn and neo geo adapters for it. that would be sweet.

I've built a few boxes for various systems and a couple mame cabinets.
I can't stand joypads, and most console joysticks, well ...suck.
It's really not too difficult to build them. Honestly though, you won't save a ton of money and it will take time.
But it's a fun if you're looking for a project. It could also start another money sucking hobby :)

I had gotten this one moons ago, a local computer store was selling these and picked one up on their going out of buisiness sale. i would love to hack it up to have some other systems run with it. I used it for MAME in the past, really no use for it now.

Thanks for the tips. I would like to learn how to build my own, but most of the diagrams/instructions are not for those who are electronically impaired. I can wire a 1960s Vespa, but to do this, I need to find a page with an easy to read diagram that tells me exactly what pieces I need to pick up... Does this exist?

Sorry, no free lunches here. You will need some fundamental understandings of electronics and wiring to build a joystick. And, as I painfully found out, some carpentry skills :-) PM me if you want some "Arcade Joystick Building for Dummies" pages that I found while researching, however.
