Indeed, there is a small bit of internal memory in the Saturn. It uses a standard watch battery that you put in the back. Once it goes dead, you replace it with a new one (and lose data you didn't save.)

You can also get big cartridge-sized memory cards that hold much, much more.

To get to the enternal memory, turn on the Saturn withouta game in it. When you get the weird option screen, go down to the bottom middle button and then go to the memory manager.

You can tell your battery is dead when you have to keep inputing the time after the Saturn has been unplugged. The Saturn can keep time with its internal clock until the battery goes dead, which usually takes years.

Cheers

Turning on your Saturn without a disc should bring to to a screen where you can manage your internal memory.

Alternatively you could hold L1 (or is it L1 + R1) while turning the system on to access the system settings where you can manage your memory, clock, lang and other settings.
