Backstory:
It is the height of WWII. Germany has conquered most of Europe, and Britain is suffering under constant seige by air. The dark shadow of facism looms heavy over the free people of the world. You are Sgt Kozwowski of the Polish special forces. Captured as part of a resistance cell opposing the German and Russian occupation of Poland, you are transported to the dread castle Wolfenstein just over the border in Germany for interrogation and execution, or possibly worse.
http://atariage.com/forums/download.php?id=32915
Befriending one of your guards is not difficult. He seems uncomfortable with what the Nazis are doing to the people of Poland. It is a shame then that you have to strangle him to get the key to your cell and a knife, but this is war. Escape is your first priority, but as a member of the resistance you won't pass up this opportunity to hurt the German war machine and avenge the people of Poland.
Good-luck soldier, the free world holds you in its prayers.
Best,

I have attached a ZIP File that has the Templates that I use. They were made by Needle. You can see example pics below. I design my labels with these templates and then resize them to post on Digital Press. The larger file will be needed for the cartridge label. If you need labels re-sized, Just e-mail them to me at neotokeo2001@yahoo.com and I will re-size and post them for you.

Sorry to threadjack here, but I've sent you several PM's and never received a response. Whatever happened to the Invader X label contest? The search engine is currently broken so I can't pull up the old thread at the moment, but I won that label contest last summer and was supposed to receive a cart with my winning label on it. I was just wondering if you ever got those printed up and if I should keep checking the mailbox for one.

There is a whole Soap Opera story behind Invader X. No Invader X carts have been made yet. They were going to be made in November/December but Wolfenstein backed it up. Packrat will be making the Invader X carts sometime in January. There will be something extra with it when you finally recieve it. :hmm:

DaveD's effort makes mine look like it took 5 minutes!
To be honest, i think you should have kept all entries hidden till the closing date!
Also let Dave know, that if he can somehow put the dogs legs behind the wolfenstien lettering then it will look a hell of a lot better!

Har, I'd say don't sell yourself short but you don't honestly mean it took five minutes (maybe to upload it too?)! If you'd taken five minutes that would've kicked much ass, I'm sure! (Don't feel bad - mine was gonna be an edit of the old Apple/Commodore version with "VCS" scrawled with MSPaint letters along the side. :P )
Dave's entry looks nice...the soldier isn't the best I've seen but those DOGS jump right out of the picture, and the castle + snowstorm is awesome. That's some hot stuff right there!
So, my only question is: can you kill guards on the other side of a wall with a grenade? >:)

My thoughts... (Im an Art Student so listen good) LOL
Try a different font
Make the Man stand out more (the colours are too Dull)
The Transparency effect works well
Make the man look a lot more aggresive
But one last thing, is it me or does this man look like he has female chest?

General thoughts about Slip81's entry (it :
- Put some work into that background; a German schloss would be nice but this appears to be something like an English keep. The bigger the better; Castle Wolfenstein is supposed to be huge.
- Copperplate Gothic doesn't work with this title and it needs some color besides
- That brownshirt (Sturmabteilungen, or SA) looks really, really awkwards. The green pants don't belong on an SA; if he came from a particular region he might be allowed to wear certain trousers (i.e. Barvarian SA might wear trousers that show they were from the area) but I don't believe the trousers were anything but gray or (the usual) brown, same as the shirt..perhaps black as well. In any case this guy doesn't look very menacing at all, and the arm is held out at a strange angle. Troops with the traditional greatcoat on are more menacing but as it seems your Castle Wolfenstein scene takes place during the warmer months then I won't complain about that. While pictures of SA are usually the typical patriotic BS posturing with a flag or whatever, or just guys standing around for their photograph to be taken, as opposed to trying to look mean I think a better model should be found, personally.
Of course I know this is a work in progress so you've probably addressed most of these issues yourself, I'm just pointing out a few things. Definitely not bad that you're trying out a different type of uniform than the standard "black dress Nazi" archetype that other artists fall back on for these things - it would be interesting to see it done right.

thank's for the input all. I should have revised ones up later.
And to all I know copperplate isn't the fight typeface for such a project, it was merely place holder text because I didn't have a true gothic typeface when I made this.
Interesting comments about the man, doesn't look like a woman to me at all, but maybe that because I'm familiar with the original source picture.
I'm back from work for the day so I'm gonna work on it some more, that one only took me about 10-20 minutes tops, and I just did it to get the ideas flowing.

Geez this is a contest? You might as well call it off and use Dave's. I mean everyone's doing a nice job- well save the stick figures. But his just looks well... perfect for a label. I mean ok the Nazi's a bit off with his noodle limbs, but the colors are so vibrant who's gonna notice? :P
Especially in the mock cartridge format, it just looks so professional.

Well Done, that is a Hell of a lot better!
If you want anymore suggestions keep reading... If not, tell me to F*** Off and Die
Suggestions:
-Change the main guys Lips (Theres something not right about those)
-Add a Texture to the white part of the text, but slighty make the texture transpaprent so u still have the colour showing
Nice work!

Wolfenstein VCS is finished and now in the final stage of production!
I am very pleased with how it has turned out. In order to make Wolfenstein VCS available as soon as possible, we're going to sell it in runs of 30 at a time. We'll have our first set of 30 copies done by the end of this week.
Wolfenstein VCS will be available boxed for $32.95. The boxed version will come with the cart, box, full-color manual, and a free 4" x 5 1/4" sticker graced with Dave's amazing cover art (see below). The loose version will cost $19.95 for the cart and manual.
If you would like to be part of the first run of 30, please send an email to wolfenstein@packratvg.com with your request. The first seven are already spoken for, so act quickly of you'd like to be one of the first people to get their hands on this gem of a game. We'll collect payment for requests after each run done, so no one will pay for their order until it's ready to go. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Jarett Waite
