As 2004 rolls to a close - I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone's resolutions were.... I resolve that I will complete my Supergrafx collection, and my US Turbo Hucard collection this year (with the very possible exception of Magical Chase).
Anyone out there have a resolution to share?

Since I picked up all the titles that I wanted for my retro systems (with the exception of the expensive/rare titles), I plan on finishing all of the unplayed/unbeaten ones, then move my way up the ladder (for example: snes to saturn to ps2). I will probably jump straight to this gen then back when ever a cool game comes out in 05 (devil may cry 3, resident evil 4, chulip, etc.) though.

By this time next year, I resolve to have my collection up to 800 games. Shouldn't be a problem. All I have to do is get 4 new games per week, or 8 games per pay period. I should hit 1,000 by the end of 2006... :/
With my income tax refund this year I WILL finally pick up the Famicom Twin System I've been dreaming about.

I will make 5 gaming related resoultions before I hit midnight out here ;D.
1) Play more games, and buy less. So far, with the bigscreen hooked up this has worked so far.
2) Finish my Sega Master System collection.
3) Finish my Sega 32x collection.
4) Finish my Sega Saturn Collection.
5) Finish my Sega CD collection.
Damn...looks like it's gonna be another long year of Sega ;D. Although my last 4 resolutions kind of cancel out my first, lol. Nonetheless I will try to play a lot more than hunt 3-4 times a week.

3. Beat Super Mario Bros. (I still have yet to do this :embarrassed: )
Hey, don't be embarassed, this was on my 2004 list and I didn't do it. :P
Anyways, along with the above, I resolve to play more games and go to more gaming-related events in 2005. Also, according to IGN, I have a little ways to go to 1000 games, so I should be able to swing that this year.
Happy New Year everyone!

My Goals/Plans/Resolutions...
I want to reach 200 games for both my SNES & PS1 collections. I just ordered 2 for the PS1 which I believe will bring that collection to 200 and I'm probably within a handful of reaching that goal for the SNES collection.
Never pay more than $30 for any game (had that goal for 2004 but did buy a handful or so that cost more).
I'm editing this...I have one other game-related resolution...to limit my game purchases to no more than 20 total games including all systems. I bought myself an XBox last year and already have 50 games for it...that's way too much so it's time to really cut back. I'll only be buying the very best this year. The few, the proud...the ca-reams...or something like that.

Well, this pretty much mirrors a lot of the posts above, but:
Actually >PLAY< the games. I never find time to play my games. Hopefully I'll do it this year.
Actually commit to a game and see the ending. Aside from HHGTTG and Adventure, I've never completed a videogame. Starting with Skies of Arcadia, I plan on changing that. And as of yesterday afternoon, Gilder has just run Ramirez off and saved my ass, so I think I'm nearing the end of SoA. Just have to find Ramirez, get the crystals back, etc.....
Finally get my gaming room into better-than-embarrassing condition, so I can submit some Room of Doom pics and possibly one weekend host a gaming night for everybody that's invited me to their's in the past.
Take some more screenshots for DP, and write up at least one more good, solid review for the DP Reviews section. I had a lot of fun when I wrote the review for the review contest however long ago that was, and proimised I'd do another sooner or later. I shoudl get off my butt and do that, you never know when a stray bus or asteroid is going to come along and cancel any plans you've made.
Organize my collection, so I actually know what I have, what I have available to trade, and what I want to get.
This one might not happen this year, due to time/skill/financial limitations, but I very much want to build myself a fullsize MAME cabinet (upright), with an interchangeable/replaceable control panel. What I envision would be a standard, upright cabinet with a standard control panel. BUT the control panel will have a connector on the end, rather than being hard-wired. I can have one with an Asteroids-style set of controls, one with a defender/Stargate control panel, one with a trackball for Marble Madness, one for dual-joystick games like Space Dungeon and Robotron, and then probably a generic one with an 8-way stick and a few buttons. Obviously this will get very expensive.
That's it. We'll see how things go.

Having trimmed my collection down in 2004 (just under 1000 to just under 800), I'm not randomly collecting anymore, but trying for just "the good stuff".
I resolve to play more of my backlog.
I resolve to eventually get an Xbox.
I resolve to spend more time on the forum and various videogame websites, than actually playing games.
I resolve to be oddly addicted to Test Twist on my cell phone.
I resolve to update my game review site sporatically.
Heh, I guess my videogaming is going about how I like it. I do want to try to make time to work on some art stuff, but we'll see how that goes... :P
I'd love to score a Bounty Bob Strikes Back tho :D
Cheers,
Ben

1. Finish off my complete Neo Geo MVS kit collection (about 30 or so kits to go).
2. Slowly work on my Sega CD collection.
3. Actually finish Viewtiful Joe before I buy Viewtiful Joe 2
4. Sell off the pile of Sega Genesis carts I've accumulated while buying systems for modding.
5. Start collecting for a new systems since I always seem to do this (perhaps 3DO?
Oh, and win the lottery to pay for all of this.

I have two general resolutions;
1. To not deny myself the things I want
2. To correctly identify the things I want
After applying these resolutions to my collection, I came up with these resolutions;
1. Sell or trade away all games for systems I don't own.
2. Decide which two or three systems to collect for. Game Boy, NES and maybe a couple others.
3. Get my two super-secret websites up and running. One devoted to a particular system, the other to collecting.
I really want to kick my Game Boy collection into high gear. Only thing holding me back right now is trying to decide if I want to collect boxes for games or not. I'm leaning towards boxes right now, so I should get going shortly.

Several things await me, so long as I'm fortunate enough to live through another year:
1. Finish out the NES screenshots for the DP website - hopefully I'll have better luck this year.
2. Cut down my collection to only the things I enjoy playing. I do not have enough space in my current living quarters to accommodate all the things that I own.
3. Finish remodeling my Room of Doom, and turn it into a workable Room of Doom, wherein you can actually relax and play games instead of a room wherein you can climb over boxes and squeeze into the computer desk.
4. At least double my complete N64 collection. The N64 is one of my favorite systems, and I hope to have a full, complete US collection someday - the only full system collection I would like to have.
5. Work with several people to organize at least one West Virginia gaming meet this year - optimistically one in the Spring and one in the Fall.
I want to go yard saling this spring/summer/fall, to grab some great deals on NES games. I will also check out the new Game Crazy and EB Games that moved into my area recently.
Up until now I've only considered completes for my N64 collection. In 2005 I'll be buying loose carts as well.

my resolutions:
- to have my collection up to 600 games
- focussing on PAL Sega Saturn games
- finding Courier Crisis for PAL Saturn
The first two are not that hard, but the third one is going to be a problem as I haven't seen the game EVER.
