View Full Version : Good sources for Japanese MD games?

I'm slowly starting to collect these games, and obviously they're none too common in the thrifts...I've picked a few up on eBay, but most of the regular importers don't seem to care about this system. Yamatoku in particular has very thin Megadrive stock...I don't want to resort to using eBay for everything, so are there any good import dealers that carry Megadrive stuff beyond the occasional game or three?

Also, I guess this could be considered a side note, but can anyone recommend good ways to purchase stuff from Japanese auctions? I've seen very nice stuff for sale there at some very nice prices...and no bids. I know of RinkYa but they seem rather suspicious. Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks in advance for any responses. =)

You can try www.loose-logic.com
In the case you can't buy there because f the language, some guys such as www.yakusagames.com live in japan: just send a mail with a list of the games you are looking for, and he will buy them for you.
What i actually do is searching there http://search.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/search?sb=desc&desc=%a5%e1%a5%ac%a5%c9%a5%e9%a5%a4%a5%d6&auccat=0&acc=jp&apg=&f=0x52&s1=cbids&o1=a&alocale=0jp&mode=1 and when i find something interesting, i bid. A friend of mine who lives in osaka sends the money, receive the game and once a month he sends everything i bought to me.

bit expensive aren't they? :D
I use Yahoo Japan thanks to my relative in Japan...
but for those without such access to YJ the above links might come in handy...

Thanks for the Loose-Logic tip, I'd been there before but never noticed they had MD stuff. :)

Guess those're my only options right now seeing as I don't know anyone that lives in Japan... I gotta say, many of these games have absolutely beautiful packaging compared to a lot of Genesis releases (Renovation and Konami aside, that is). Again, thanks for the tips.

(Renovation and Konami aside, that is)
Rocket Knight Adventures, Contra the Hard Corps, Sunset Riders (admittedly I haven't seen that last one)? Not the worst stuff ever.

Now the Japanese version of Castlevania Bloodlines, hell yeah that's ugly.

I actually meant that the US releases looked damn good for US releases (MUSHA and Rocket Knight Adventures come to mind), but to each his own. And yeah, Vampire Killer is an ugly one...though it makes up for that by being super pricey, regardless.

It's about in league with, say, the Japanese Legacy of Darkness (N64 title), IMO. Both rather ugly.
