Ugh. Not looking forward to it at all, especially after hearing the whole game plays in the bottom screen (the dimmer one) and uses the top screen only for a map function.

Me. Aria of Sorrow was the worst of the GBA castlevania's IMO, I don't know why, I just thought it seemed rushed somehow. though i'd be lying if i'd said I wouldn't be getting it.

Funny, I LOVED Aria of Sorrow. Oh well, I disliked Sympohney of the Night so it's a matter of personal taste.

Hey, I'm allready getting a DS at some point due to FF 3 alone. :D Now at least more games I want to play will be coming out for it.

To recap, Aria of Sorrow had lots of good, even great, stuff (spoiler alert):

+ Best music of all the GBA CVs (Though there's some snazzy stuff in the CotM version; notably the original track Awake, but overall I'm sick and tired of remixes of classic CV tunes and while they're nice to include they don't need to dominate a game's soundtrack)

+ Best graphics of all the GBA CVs (HoD had some incredibly awful areas such as the Luminous Caverns; but you need to give Iga some slack - apparently this is a scaled down version of a game originally slated to be a PS2 release. For CotM, I do like the graphics but they have a very generic look as they weren't done in-house)

+ Some rather cool/interesting characters in the mix (Hammer =! M.C.)

+ The most interesting areas out of all the GBA CVs (Puzzles now revolve around the interesting soul system)

+ Tons of references for hardcore CV fans, and it even adds a few new ones to remember!

+ Pokemon-style system (yeah, it makes Igarashi look a bit hypocritical, but collecting souls IS addictive. Is this stripped right out of Dark Arms - Beast Busters '99? I think not.)

+ Extra games (Boss Rush and you can play as another character who is much better than Maxim was in HoD)

- Sepia tone castle (thankfully rather short; I didn't hate it, but it's definitely not inspiring.)

- Characters who give away large chunks of plot carelessly, and an overall silly, desperate move to somehow incorporate Japan. Not all the story is awful, but there are some rather odd bits.

- It's a Metroidvania. 'nuff said. While there's actually more freedom in this type of game than in the old linear ones, it definitely feels claustrophobic when you can jump up and always hit a roof.

I enjoyed Aria of Sorrow a lot, as well as the other GBA titles, so I'm very much looking forward to this game. It still looks like it's almost a year away though (fall 2005 release?), so I hope the DS drops a little in price by then.

ARGH! Why can't they put the map on the bottom screen and the gameplay on the top like every other DS game in existance? I finally get used to that and now they go and mess it up in this game.
