actualy there are two other that are close in name of VGS:
the video game developer summit held here in IL:
http://www.vgdsummit.com
and I believe Sun microsystems also has a event called the video game summit
(this is why I call mine the 2005 (or whatever date) Video game summit.)
There might be a name change next yaer though if I plan to go larger.
(if there is a next year)

just a quick bump: to remind people who haven't registered for tables yet that the premium spots are going fast now(these are tables by the walls in the room) I can't say how many is left because I have to conact a certine place still who might be coming and they might want more then the limit.

I've been a classic game collector for many years but admittedly never been to any kind of classic game event. I've heard about the VGS for the last couple years but one way or another couldn't make it. And unfortunately, I usually can't find the time to even think of making one I can't drive to in a few hours so, from Champaign Illinois, the VGS is the main event. Well, this year I'm putting July 16th on the calendar in large letters so I don't miss it! :D
My question is, will this event give me a good feel for what the typical classic game convention is like, along with a good taste of my main interests which are cartridge based systems up through 16 bit systems (mainly the Atari 2600 generation systems though).
Thanks!

I'll have to see but IL isn't too terribly far away from me.
Hopefully I can convince a buddy of mine to head that way on the 16th.... it surely can't hurt and would be fun I'm sure.

just to let you know I redone the VGS website in Adobe golive and moved it from the events directory to the main directory and the url is now shorter: http://avc.atari-users.net/VGS.html (took off the "Fest" in the name since Jagfest section was that big as other shows (MGC,CGE...))

This is just an announcement before I send out the official Pr in around the end of this month:
Atari Video Club/Jaguar Community United announced today that our next show will take place on August 12th,2006 at the FairField Inn and suites in
Lombard,IL (the same location we had it for the past 3 years).
Right now we are looking for people to help with the show.
here are the only parts we need hep with:
1. Advertising: Flier's and/or mentions in the local papers by you.(the fliers should be similar to the one I did for the past 2 shows)Also fliers can distributed at certain game stores (or computer users groups).
2. Organization: at this time we basically have two people working on each side of the show: Corey Koltz from 8-bit classics.com is working on the Video Game
side of the show and Julian Wolf from Suburban Chicago ATarains users group is working on the computer side of the show. These guys can't do it alone if you care to help either one of these fine gentlemen please e-mail me and
I'll contact the person you want to help.
Also to further help: Corey has set up a private section in his forum at 8bit Classics.com for us to use for the show (I've already posted the first message which is similar to this) for those who wish to be part of it first
go the forum and register(if you haven't already) then e-mail Corey at 8bitclassics.com and let him know that you are part of the VGS Event committee so you can post on the section. I should have more information coming soon about signing up sponsors and/or vendors.
