Of course. They're video game characters.

So think about it for a bit - even with the games whose characters you've learned to embrace over time. If you were to explain a character to someone who didn't know anything about video games, what do you think would be the most ridiculous, preposterous, and unlikely characters in gaming history?

Explain them to me as if I had never played the game before.

Milk Loving Panther King who has a broken table. Every time he sets his milk on the table the milk spills... and the only thing that can perfectly replace the broken 4th leg is a red squirrel. Oh, he is also infected with Alien Larva...

My pick would be the eyeball character from Quake III. id certainly achieved their goal of having a non-standard player, there. Though maybe Bones (same game) beats him out, since Bones BLEEDS.

And yeah, Rbudrick's right...that stupid floating head from Zombie Nation. My god, that makes no sense...especially what with destroying the city and then all the patriotic garbage at the end. (I'm going to forget about everything Aniki related, now.)

My choice is a very recent one, though, let me first say that Neo Contra has no plausibility in its plot. None. Whatsoever. El Zilcho. I think it's a great game, but don't even pay attention to the plot, especially if you've just beaten Metal Gear Solid 3. Thankfully, I took the liberty to do this in reverse order, so...

Oh, yeah, the character. The main enemies are the very screwily named Guerrilla Contra (I think his voice is too gruff for a guy with a monocle and a corncob pipe), Plant Contra (SERIOUS MODE!!! PLANT FLASH!!!), Pheromone Contra (that is such a fubar name, but thankfully, the design isn't silly... that's all I'll say there), and specifically... my choice...

Behold the might of ANIMAL CONTRA. Wow, just... words fail me here. It doesn't stop with his design... all sanity is rudely shoved out of the proverbial window in the actual game, where AC here talks with a perfectly competent human voice, and our heroes, Bill and Jaguar, aren't even laughing their asses off and screaming out WTF at the top of their lungs. They just say in their cool badass tones, "You must be Animal Contra, one of the Neo Contra elite," and they don't underestimate him! I mean, CHEEZUS, LOOK AT HIM, HE'S A DOG!!! IN A F@#$ING KAISER HELMET!!! I defy the entire board to find one more fubared than Animal Contra! @_@

Ok, in Japanese, "warui" is "bad". The W in Wario is because of "warui", not just cause of that it's an upside down M. So it sounds like "Badario" or whatever. That kinda stuff isn't as lame in Japan. And "ijiwaru" is like, meanspirited. But switch that around and you get "waruiji" or Waluigi. Kind of a decent pun in Japanese but sounds awkward in English.

Saying it sounds awkward is putting it kindly. It doesn't make any sense at all - it's like they just tacked a "wa-" on front of the name. They need to sort stuff like that out for the U.S., really.

The sloggs are cool and i don't remember the names of the guys with octopus faces. I haven't played since the original. I should really pick more of these games up.

As for the Wario story didn't it have something to do with Mario dropping a bucket with a M onto Warios head so he took Marios name but the upside down bucket letter was a W hence Wario. At leatst i think that was the story behind it. Or something similair.

My pick for worst baddies (besides what has been mentioned most of which are good examples)is the Ladybugs and Bunnies in Tales of Symphonia.
Or that bug obsessed kid from the Yugioh games.
Or Cait Sith(fluffy kitty.... bad guy...)

I'd go with the protagonist from Infiltrator (NES). The back of the box describes "you" as James "Jimbo Baby" McGibbits, a helicopter pilot, motorcycle racer, rock star, stuntman and "all around cool guy" (I swear it said that).

I'm surprised the character wasn't also a ninja and a Hot Wheels designer, since they apparently found a list of tings 10 year old boys dream about becoming, and put it all into a single character.
