As much as I hate voting for a videogame soundtrack that thinks it's a movie soundtrack, I'm going with San Andreas. Sure, my heart belongs to "Lonely Rolling Star" from Katamari Damacy, and I may occasionally wail on "Snake Eater" in my car (apparently I'm "pretty good" at it, which is a frightening thought), but the San Andreas soundtrack caused so much retarded and racist drama that I'm voting for it as some kind of bizarre political stance.

My vote goes to GTA: San Andreas. Say what you will about the rap, but it fits in with the game, even if they did go a little overboard with the Dr. Dre. The alternative and classic rock stations are pretty good too - Axl Rose lending his voice as Tommy "The Nightmare" Smith is the best thing he's done in years, and Andy Dick was great as the voice of a gardening show host on the talk radio station. And on a random note, I can't help but wonder what Sage's (DJ of the alternative station) LiveJournal would be like. LOL

Runner-up: Katamari Damacy. The music blends in perfectly with the game and will be stuck in your head long after you quit playing it.

I voted for Gradius V. Im not a fan of the musical choices in GTA, and although Halo has some good tunes, a lot of them were rehashes of old ones or more of background tunes. It was a toss up between Katamari Damacy and Gradius V. I guess Im not too fond of the Japanese lyrics in most of the Katamari songs.

I know I am going to get a lot of people pissed of when I say this, but I do not think GTA:SA should be in this category. WHY? My opinion is that if a game is going to win best soundtrack, it should be because the musicians of the project put many hard hours into it, not because they just threw old school (or any other) music into the game. The musicians that spent many hours coming up with ORIGINAL songs or whatnot should be rewarded, not some people who just put music of OTHERS together and called it a soundtrack (even though the music of GTA does a great job to go with the game).

i did not enjoy the katamri damacy soundtrack at all. i did enjoy the gta:sa soundtrack. i grew up listening to the old school rap and r&b that plagued that entire soundtrack, so I rather enjoyed the soundtrack. i have to give my vote to gta, as i really, really enjoyed that soundtrack

I had a tough time with this one, because we have just turned on the radio stations in GTA to just listen to them, but the then the "na nana na" popped into my head and knew there was no other way to vote.
